DE Jamel Turner (Butler Community College; transfer to Akron)

Fork Union was a tremendous choice, sounds like Jamel has really matured...

Hope his buckeye career is more like the last Fork Union alum to come through C-bus and less like our last Ursuline alum

I'm really excited about getting this kid on campus. Sounds like he's matured and will be a great leader. How big is he now?
Interesting that he played some safety at Fork Union................

After all of the crap we've seen in recruiting in the past month alone... Jamel is an excellent example of what epitomizes a Tressel recruit.

Yes, its true he had disciplinary issues while living in Youngstown. But this is a young man who sought to leave the enviroment he's known for his whole life, and enroll in a military school in hopes that the structure and discipline would make him a better person off the field and a better student in the class room.

Hats off to you Jamel, you worked your butt off and deserve to be recognized. Hopefully in the next four years I get to see you holding up a crystal football for the S&G.

I'm really pulling for Jamel, especially being from the Youngstown-Warren area myself. I just hope when he gets to Columbus, he truely has matured as much as it sounds like he has. It's easy to do and say the right things in a place like Fork Union, but coming back to Ohio just 3 hours from home... I hope he keeps his head on straight, not that there's any reason to think otherwise. I want nothing but the best for this young man, it sounds like he's had a lifetime's worth of hardship wrapped up into 18 years of an young life. I feel like the OSU team is filled with quality young men and coaches, so hopefully Jamel will fully emerse himself with these people and truely blossom as a person and a player. Best of luck Jamel!!!

This is the end of Winter Quarter at Ohio State, suggesting a possible reason. If Jamel were to enter in Spring Quarter, he could hardly stay at Fork Union.

But, if he did not graduate, then entry is not an option? Am I right? If he has his high school diploma and passed the entry exams, then given his recent comments, it seems logical that he leaves to enter Ohio State. If not, then this is bad news, if I understand correctly?

Fork Union has a different academic system than most high schools. I read a bit about it last night. I believe they had a term end in February, though, so depending on where he was in his program there, it's possible he could have been eligible to graduate then.

Can you graduate early from Fork Union? I have no idea how to graduate early or how military academies work, but maybe he met all the requirements needed? It's curious that the spokesperson had to make a comment...who was asking, why were they asking, or why a statement had to be made.

So either he had enough requirements.

Or it could be bad.

Turner is definitely gone from Fork Union, but no one is talking. Obviously, there is something that happened. It could have been something that Jamel did, or it may be his decision to leave. A "source" says that there is plan in place for Jamel and Ohio State is on board. We shall see how this all works out.
