DE Keith Wells (Columbus State; transfer to Ohio Dominican)

Anyone who doesn't subscribe to the theory Oh8ch stated obviously hasn't been following recruiting very long or is drinking some funny Kool-Aid...

Most often, when OSU is the one Northern schools being named amongst a group of finalists that also includes 4 Southern schools, OSU is not likely to end of as the destination for that recruit. There really is nothing to argue about when it comes to that...it is just a fact. Of course there are exceptions...kids who were primarily looking at Southern schoools (Howard, Heyward, Scott, Dukes, Wells, Olson, etc.). But a lot of the kids from the South that OSU successfully recruits are looking at other Northern schools (Rolle, Sabino, Salley, Holmes, Youboty, Abdallah, Dublin, Henton, etc.). And most of the time, the kid just ends up staying South...it's just the way recruiting works.

It's even easier than that, IMO... when tOSU is 1/5 "final" schools and the other 4 are southern (as is usually the case with southern kids), the is an 80% chance that he'll stay in the south... just like if an Ohio kid has 4 B10 offers and 1 Clemson (or whatever) offer, there is an 80% chance that he'll stay in the B10... its not that tOSU has no chance, there is a 20% chance... that just happens to be alot less than 80%...

Getting Keith would be tremendous. I rewatched his videos and man is he fast off the edge. He is not that big right now (reported 220-225), but he does seem like he has great upper body strength, as he makes A LOT of one-armed tackles. Maybe he needs ot refine his technique a bit, but our coaches are great in doing so. This would make up for the Ben Martin fiasco in my eyes.

Too bad we had to settle for Cameron Heyward, who was just named as a Freshman All American by Rivals. Martin may still turn out to be a great player, but at this stage, there's just one word for that situation, and that word is inconsequential.

Bring this Wells kid up for a visit, and send Tressel down there the week after to seal the deal with mom....

To be honest, I am not sure if you agreed with me or are saying that Cam Heyward made up for Ben Martin.... but what I meant they are similar players (size, speed, style), so getting Wells would make up 'personnel wise' from losing out on Martin.

I agree with you that Wells would be an exciting addition to this class. After watch Heyward this year, I'm sold on those Georgia Dlinemen. Quick note on Martin, it's not a fiasco because he was never really into being a Buckeye, considering the fact that we finished third, and DE was pretty much the position that we were most stacked going into this season, even without the emergence of Heyward.

It was a fiasco in that we failed to effectively recruit him to tOSU and there was a meltdown on every board by us recruitniks when we realized he wouldn't be a Buckeye. I am also under the impression that Martin told the staff that he was a Buckeye, from what I have read from various insiders. This would make it a fiasco, IMO. We have had success with Georgia DLman (Heyward) and the Wells surname (Chris, Jonathan, Maurice)... so if one could put these together just imagine the success we could have!! lol.

Glad to see us pop up for Keith again...I really like his upside and I think he would be ideal for the weakside DE and have Mobley at SDE. On can dream anyways, though it always seemed Wells was genuinely interested in us but never gave it enough time.
