DE Lawrence Wilson (official thread)

Crayfish said:
Any word when he may pull the trigger and announce?

He says he would decide at the end of his football season after visiting ND, Pitt and tOSU. The word is that Pitt is in it because they were the first to offer (Wilson is loyal) but it really is an ND-tOSU race.

You have to think if ND continues to have a bad year and the coaching staff is threatened, it bodes well for tOSU. :osu:

Rumor floating tonight that he may be a Buckeye??!!??

If you're talking about the thread over at BN where they say they read it on JJHuddle I'm pretty sure the top Ohio DE that committed was Terricko Marshall, the DE from Maple Heights.

If it's premium I suppose it could be true but wouldn't Bucknuts and BSB be all over it? Great news if it's true.

That's the problem with non-premium folks (especially on Bustnuts) try to post premium info...you get bogus info which causes rumors and shit. People want to post a thread just to be noticed, regardless if the info is good or not.

David Nelson, a receiver out of Texas, was in South Bend this weekend and spent time with Lawrence Wilson. He said after talking to Wilson's mom he thinks she wants Lawrence to commit to Notre Dame and Nelson thinks Wilson will end up a Domer, FWIW.

Wilson will make an official visit to Ohio State this weekend. His decision will most likely come down to Ohio State or ND but he still may visit Pitt officially. He wants to go to a place he's comfortable and where he'll see the field the quickest. Wilson wants to play defense in college but isn't totally opposed to playing tight end if need be. He claims to have no leader at this point.

If he really wants to go "where he'll see the field the quickest" My guess is ND will have the winning bid for his services... Hope I'm wrong, but we took some good DE's last year, and have two this year, and have a lot of good looking guys in the wings already on the team... unless the kid is a freak, he will need to wait his turn if he goes the buckeye route...

However we do rotate alot of guys... does ND? That could help our case and hurt theirs...??

Well our defensive ends haven't exactly been tearing it up out there. Fraser will be gone, and after that the only other two defensive ends that have seen extensive time are Richardson and Kudla. Guys like Gholston and Barrow are waiting in the wings, not to mention Williams and Worthington but I would think a DE would like the depth chart at Ohio State right now.

Wilson Enjoys Ohio State Visit
By Duane Long
Date: Oct 10, 2004

TE/DE Lawrence Wilson was on his official visit to Ohio State this weekend. How did it go for this rising Ohio prospect? Duane Long has the latest.

Lawrence Wilson of Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary returned home from his official visit to Ohio State earlier today. How did the trip go?

"It went really well," he said. "The skull session was great... Devin Jordan hosted me the first night and Jay Richardson hosted me the second night. So I stayed with a receiver and a defensive end and got to see it from both sides."

Wilson, of course, can play either tight end or defensive end in college. Most project him as a defensive end, but it is not yet decided as far as Wilson is concerned.

"As far as what position I play, it's up to me," he said.

It sounds like Wilson is close to deciding.

"I went to Notre Dame last weekend," he said. "I might go to Pitt the weekend after next, but I could decide before then."

What are some things working in the favor of Ohio State?

"Location is a big factor," Wilson said. "Ohio State is a lot closer. When I look at the scheme, I think I would fit right in."
