Detroit Red Wings (Official Thread)

Doesn't make up for the Cup loss, of course, but coming back from 2-5 in "hockeytown" to win 7-6 is as good as it gets in November hockey. :banger:

I'll admit it, I shut it off after they went down 5-2. I hate watching them play the Wings because they are like playing an All-Star team. Good to see the Mule back.

Nice game Staal.

80,
I see the sharks signed your old buddy Claude Lemieux to a tryout contract.
I thought he was in a retirement home somewhere in Moose Jaw.

yeah I saw that yesterday.

That bitch probably still likes to cheap shot and turtle, so it's actually a shock that Anaheim didn't sign him first.

He's washed up though. The Sharks don't need him and really only need to avoid the injury bug the rest of the way and then find a way to get Joe Thornton to not transform into a 6'7" walking vagina come playoff time.

classy move by the wings org and zetterburg in the wake of the grown man stealing the stick that zetterburg gave the kid.

while im here ill make a few comments. the pp is the most exciting pp in a long time, period. also the wings did a nice job last night getting traffic on net, though they didn't run mason-the first game in atleast 5 games he hasnt been run.

how many all-star games has Lidstrom participated in now ? it seems like he's there every year representing the wings. As for Datsyuk, is there anybody in the league playing better than him right now ? he's playing incredible now not only getting assists (nothing new) but he's been scoring a lot of goals recently as well.

Ozzy is clearly not having his best season. But Conklin has been a pleasant surprise to say the least, 5 Shutouts this season alone is impressive when you consider he had only 4 in his career before this season. I am wondering what the Red Wings will do with Jimmy Howard who has been in the organization for a while and is playing for their minor league team.

Howard was never able to quite get there. I don't see him moving up until next year at the earliest, but the window pretty much closes this year for at least 2 years for another Stanley Cup.

I'm just really hoping Ozzy can pull it together because he's very well liked by the players and the public and he has won 2 Stanley Cups with the Wings so far. But the popular sentiment around the area is that Conklin should be the #1 and with good reason. I think they really need another Defensemen to be honest, Lilja and Lebda can be adequate but they are sometimes very inconsistent. Word has it that Rafalski will be gone at the end of the year because nobody in the organization or the team really likes him, apparently he's kind of a prick to people.

Dreger: NHL threatens to suspend absent All-Stars

Pittsburgh has no intention of testing NHL commissioner Gary Bettman's threat to suspend those who choose not show in Montreal for this weekends All-Star festivities.
Penguins captain Sidney Crosby is en route to Montreal and will arrive early this afternoon to fully participate in all off-ice All-Star activities.
The NHL says it will enforce an understanding that all players who decline to show after being named to the All-Star teams must miss at least one game before or one game after the All-Star weekend.
If so, Detroit's Pavel Datsyuk and Nicklas Lidstrom may be forced to sit the Red Wings next game if they don't immediately change their All-Star break plans and report to Montreal
