If only I could get a dollar for every time someone writes, "trust the coaches."

It wouldn't have to be said so often if many didn't second-guess the staff so often in favor of some "writer" at one of the recruiting services. Good chance the staff learned more about Adam in the first 10 minutes of camp than Rivals or Scout actually knew when they applied thier rating. Brian at MGOblog , in reviewing his past predictions, made a statement that OSU is fortunate that Malcom Jenkins has turned out to be an ok player. After all he was a no name mediocre recruit that didn't excite the recruiting word. Jenkins won his OSU offer at Camp by first-hand demonstrating his abilities and potential. I seriously doubt the coaches are suprised at his success to this point based on their intimate knowledge, unlike so many national pundits looking through 3-star colored glasses.

Aurora's Bellamy set for Ohio State

Thursday, June 12, 2008
From staff reports
Adam Bellamy was working at a youth football camp on Monday when Aurora coach Bob Mihalik called him to the telephone.
"Coach Mihalik said it was [Ohio State] coach [Jim] Tressel and that he had a question for me," said Bellamy, a 6-4, 275-pound two-way lineman.
Tressel's question was simple, but it nearly knocked Bellamy off his feet. He wanted to know if Bellamy wanted to be a Buckeye. Bellamy told Tressel he was 99 percent sure he wanted to attend Ohio State, but asked if he could have a day to talk to his family. Tressel said sure, "because we need to have that other 1 percent."

The guys did their testing today and yesterday and start practice tomorrow. I'm pretty sure Adam got 1100 lbs on the three combined lifts (bench/squat/clean) which set our school record. I'm not 100% on the numbers but I'm pretty sure he got...

Bench- 300
Squat- 475
Clean- 325

40- 4.86

Again, not 100% but pretty sure thats how he tested...

Anything close to this would be pretty darn impressive (especially for anyone not named Johnny Simon )

That 40 time is very encouraging.

Aurora lost to Avon in their first game on thursday in a heartbreaker by 3 points. With the ball on the Avon 20 with 2:30 left a fumbled snap gave Avon the ball and they scored with 7 seconds left. Bellamy played well despite facing double and triple teams on every single play.

This guy, in no way, will remain a 3star(Rivals) for long. He is a solid 4star prospect and will get better and better as his career moves up, out and beyond, imho.....mark my words, fwiw. Really love our DL haul for '09, and I don't think we're done, yet. Right Corey?
