DT Tyleik Williams (All B1G, All-American)

It's not about the clip, and you know that. It's about the mentality it takes to play for them, vs play for us. They do this shit. We just go out and win, because we've been instructed on how. This isn't part of that.
But every indication is Day and the team get this rivalry. All the talent, coaching, preparation is there. Plus the 12 months of pent up motivation from last year’s missed Game. That’s not being undone by that clip. It’s not.

It’s fan fiction stuff for us to fret about nothing. The Game thread lays out plenty of posts on what this game actually comes down to - we can’t brag about talent/coaching/motivation advantages all year and think this unravels it. Doesn’t jive.

anyway, I’m done. Every one else can carry on how they want.

Until bowl games begin, it's on to postseason individual awards and teams of the year. On Monday, the 247Sports True Freshman All-American Team was announced and three of the Buckeyes' first-year players made the list, the most of any team in the country, in running back TreVeyon Henderson, cornerback Denzel Burke and defensive tackle Tyleik Williams.

Well earned. Monster true freshman season at a position where that rarely happens. Nothing but upside here.

The answer to the question, "Why didn't Tyleik see the field more last year?" Because he was 40 pounds overweight and would be gassed after two plays...

HELD BACK BY FATIGUE AND EXCESS WEIGHT IN 2021, TYLEIK WILLIAMS STARTING TO SEE “TRUE POTENTIAL” AHEAD OF SOPHOMORE SEASON

Any questions surrounding Tyleik Williams last season had little to do with his talent. That was plainly evident in the short windows that the true freshman had to display his ability on the field.

Rather, why Williams wasn’t playing more was the prevailing line of inquiry in 2021, given his high level of productivity during brief stints of playing time. Ten Ohio State defensive linemen logged more snaps than Williams last season, but only one – first-team All-Big Ten tackle Haskell Garrett – finished with more sacks than the five the freshman racked up.

In his first-ever interview session with members of the media since arriving at Ohio State, Williams finally provided an answer to that question Thursday, putting the blame on himself instead of the decision-making of Larry Johnson and the Buckeye coaching staff.

“My goals for the season were basically what I had. I always want more, but I wasn’t in shape so they couldn’t put me on the field,” Williams said. “That’s not on them, that’s on me.”

Cont'd ...
