ESPN (A bunch of Death-Spiraling maroons)

Ranked SEC teams, AU/FL looked like a$$ Saturday but so did ranked B1G teams IU/tsun.

I catch all kinds of hell here for not pumping the B1G but let's look back, even going back to BCS before CFB, the SEC has been in the hunt 16-17 times (mostly Bama, but 3 or 4 others in there too,) the B1G just 6..... all us, except one MSU fluke.

The B1G needs to be stronger overall. Go ahead, tell me I'm a hater, but recent history tells the truth: nobody else in the B1G is helping. Do I think ESPN favors the SEC? I sure as hell do, but do I think other conferences were in the hunt WAY more than the B1G going back before the 2008 ESPN sellout to the SEC? Yeah, they were..... and it's tough to blame that on ESPN.

Go to the stat analysis thread

There I give objective evidence that PSU is decent this year and Wisconsin is very good. Better than most of the SEC.

Either provide something other than sky high rhetoric or pick a different one note piano to bang on

The top of the SEC is deeper than the top of the Big Ten, but that's not really the point here. Having Bama, LSU, Georgia and Auburn competing for titles over that span doesn't make South Carolina or Missouri or Tennessee or Texas A&M or Vandy better by association.

You catch all kinds of hell because you say ridiculous things, like us not having the same kind of talent as Clemson. You also slant your arguments to such extremes that your opinions become objectively lies

I never said the SEC was loaded but there ARE consistent contenders that aren't named Bama.

And in the B1G? There's tOSU...... and......

Never said that. I said the CONFERENCE is a one team conference consistently like the ACC.

The B1G needs to be stronger, yes like the SEC, so that there's a REAL challenge to tOSU for the conference win. Right now...... nobody is going to worry Clemson in the ACC and nobody is going to worry us in the B1G. Can we say the same about the SEC?

Could GA or LSU beat Bama? I'd say those are close games. Is WI going to beat us? Very unlikely.

I think the rest of the B1G does tOSU no favors when it comes to getting in the CFB but there's 2 or 3 teams that have been contenders in recent years that give a one loss Bama an edge to get over a one loss tOSU.

So who exactly does the ACC have to compare to Wiscy or PSU? Because I guarantee that if those teams played in the SEC they would both be considered title contenders right now.

The FPI somehow gets more comical as the season rolls on.

In the current edition.

http://www.espn.com/college-football/statistics/teamratings

2-3 South Carolina sits at #25. The 2 wins.....Kentucky and Charleston Southern

Washington somehow sits at #14 following a reeling 2nd loss to a bad Stanford team

Even though Florida just beat Auburn....Auburn #9 Florida #12

Missouri #17 (though I know its pointless to complain about anything ESPN inflating the SEC at this point its expected) add Texas A&M #16 to that list.

Only the finest of the maths in the FPI formula

Is this one of us... well, Deltalax is me... but the OP?

The ACC is trash. Even Clemson is way overrated.

PSU is like FL for me. Both get a "legacy" rating but they haven't been really impressive in a few years. I'm not convinced PSU is that good. The schedule shows nothing so far.

Wiscy is showing me something this year. They're usually a top second tier team, solid and a step above the meat of B1G, but never quite a threat to tOSU. This year they are especially good and honestly, I look forward to 10/26 because I like good, hard football.

Maybe I'm just old and I don't hate the rest of the B1G. If Wiscy won a Natty...... I'd know we lost but I'd also know it's better for us in the long run than having it be the SEC and Clemson in a circle jerk year after year.

Right, but you just compared the BIG to the ACC... and now you immediately switch. What I am saying is that Wiscy or maybe even PSU could win a Natty if they got overrated rankings like the SEC does every year. Those teams dont get put in the games required to a Natty. Wiscy is a better program than Auburn IMO. PSU is on par with LSU as a program.

Further. The SEC's success is entirely based around two coaches. Nick Saban and Urban Meyer. Bama, UF, LSU, and even Auburn all won titles with either them coaching or their players responsible for the success.

A loss would surely eliminate Clemson, with that schedule.....at least youd think

Unless they are going to afford them the Alabama style benefit of the doubt "youve been good in the past" bid

Gotta say I'm puzzled by the ranking of the 'clones over Texas. Iowa state has two losses and Northern Iowa took them to overtime. Their other wins are against UL Monroe and Baylor. Texas has a single loss to LSU with wins over semi-respectable programs Okie State and WVU.
