Everett Golson (official thread)

Graduating early. UNC's issues has opened the door for others like Notre Dame. He would flourish in a Kelly offense. Decision coming soon.

I'm always a bit disappointed when athletes as talented as Everett choose to stay close to home even if it is against there best professional development.

I understand he probably doesn't see it that way, but there are a lot better opportunities out there than UNC from a football perspective.

Spoke with Everett Thursday and he will make a quick decision once the season is over. He enjoyed South Bend last weekend and the music program there is very appealing to both him and his parents. He will be in Clemson this upcoming weekend, expect a decision shortly after. I personally feel Notre Dame is his best option now that there is some stability within their program with Kelly, and they have no other QB for their 2011 class.

With the lift tragedy and the recent rape allegation fiasco, along with their poor performance on the field, I wouldn't call Kelly/Notre Dame stable. Its about as unstable as it could be for a first-year coach.

Agreed. He is in no way a prototype NFL QB....but I swear he reminds me of Troy Smith. He is elusive but not fast...has a cannon that will make every throw on the chart...and he is vertically challenged at 6'1 in cleats. However, I've seen enough to know he has "it". The kid will be a success. No doubt in my mind.

I agree. He would be money in Kellys spread. I never got way the scouting sites are all down on him. He's short, but so what. He's got every other tool, and he wins.

His other option is Carolina and let's be honest, how long will Butch stick around with the current mess being made there? Everett is not a fool and has come to face the fact he may never see the basketball court at Carolina, but very well could in South Bend. Lots of factors are at play here. Music is just as important to him as anything else. As far as him having the "it" factor, he's always had that ever since youth rec ball.

Golson vs. Clowney for the 3A title next Saturday. Could not ask for anything better, two of the best players in the state on opposite sides of the ball. This is Everett's third straight year leading the Seahawks to the state championship game.
