Fall Camp and Other Tidbits

Borland has a long ways to go before putting him in the same sentence as A.J. Hawk.
No doubt...Considering his production as a freshman it's easy to see Borland has the potential to be in that class though.

Borland has similar skill sets tho and like my favorite buckeye AJ always is around the ball. The potential is there though to be a Hawk/Carpenter type of impact very soon.

As far as the Hawk comparisons; go back and watch film of AJ Hawk in pass coverage, then watch Boreland last year.

Like all of the OSU LB's the last few years, play action passes just fuck him up 8 ways to Sunday so I agree with previous posters that Boreland has a ways to go before he is in the conversation with Hawk.

I will say this, in another day and age of offensive football, you plug Boreland in at MLB and he's a Marcus Marek-esque tackling machine from the day he stepped foot on campus.

I am not knocking the kid at all.

Like Jax said, Borland did not show Hawk's coverage skills. He did surprisingly well but other than being white and having a cool name, not a whole lot reminds me of Hawk. A.J. was quite a bit more athletic and an OLB while Tuf appears to be a pure throwback MLB.

Fyi, I may hold Hawk in higher esteem than others. I believe he was our best linebacker since Spielman. So it's gonna take a lot for me to put Tuf in that category

Yes it surely will... A little unfair to compare Borland to a 2005 AJ though. In 2 years where will Borland be? I think he can be right there.

Also important to note what Tuf will likely hsve surrounding him. His defensive lines will keep him clean and his back 4 will be lockdown.

I played basketball at South Rec with Marcus Marek. He fucked me up pretty good with a pick one time.

That's what happens when your roster is so loaded.
Yeah it almost feels like every position group is being under sold and it's because of the depth everywhere. For example is it me or has it been insanely quiet on the JK Dobbins front? Damn just seems like everyone in the country has forgot about him.

Probably have Taylor from Wisconsin to thank for that too.

I actually love the fact that all the news has stayed in house! We got a hungry got a hungry, deep roster waiting to unleash on game day! All the pub around Meyer has taken away from what this offense is going to do this year. The nation will take notice when this offense takes the field! Yeah the RB position doesn't have any question marks but it still wasn't mentioned. Would be nice to hear news about the 2 starters and more about Snead and Teague since both have their black stripes off.
