Florida LB Alex Anzalone (official thread)

Do I think that there are some Ohio State fans who tweet stupid things to recruits? Yes, I do.
Do I think that there are Michigan, Notre Dame, and Penn State fans who pretend to be Ohio State fans and tweet stupid things to recruits? Yes, I do.

Apparently, that's why LeBron left Cleveland too. He was really sick of the fans blowing up his family via the internet. Give me a fucking break. This kid is a freaking baby and while we have some crazy ass fans, that doesn't make this kid any less of a baby.

Is daddy gonna save him when Will Muschamp goes ape shit on his ass for making a bad play?

The story I heard is, that the same reason Art Modell left town as well:wink2:

Let me clarify my stance on this. I think it's gross that people get so caught up in recruiting that they completely go overboard (i.e contacting a recruit, their family, etc.). It's even more disgusting when they contact that recruit to say nasty and hurtful things. It happens everywhere and probably more-so at a place like Ohio State where we have one of the largest and most passionate fanbases.

With that said, I am beyond sick of hearing this dude complain about this thing. He was a drama queen to everyone that recruited him. You're going to tell me that you decided to reverse one of the biggest decisions of your life because of some reknobs on the internet? Get out of here with that. You interact with "fans" on social networking sites and then complain when you get reactions from "fans" that you don't like? Then stay the hell off of social networking sites or simply don't interact with freaking 40+ strangers. To act like it's somehow Ohio State's fault that you didn't end up there is hilarious.

Might come off as sour grapes, but I'm really glad he didn't end up here, despite how great he looks on the field. The less guys like that we have on our team, the better.

Muschamp is going to make him cry and binge Ben & Jerry's more than the first time he saw The Notebook.

Looking at ratemydoctor.com Salvatore Anzalone doesn't have any ratings at all, good or bad. I'm sure the site has some sort of policy for the removal of spam/joke reviews but it's interesting that he doesn't have any positive ratings either whereas other pediatricians in the area do.

I agree with almost everything here. A recruit can not have it both ways, when he conducts an open, public, attention whore, and/or "drama queen" recruitment process you have to expect some reaction from fans (of schools) that feel slighted, etc. Also, it is really easy for people to post/say hurtful things when they can do it anonymously and not be held accountable.

However, ask me in four years whether I'm glad he won't be coming here. :tongue2:

This wasn't just a decommitment. His father blasted Ohio State in the media. It was complete bull and over the top. Certainly the fan reactions were not all justified, but this just wasn't a kid saying "I am decommitting, but I wish Ohio State all the best." No, they, especially his father, went to the media and slammed the university (for something the university had no control over and was really the kid's fault). So while I don't justify all the things fans have done, I certainly don't feel bad one second for either of them.

Oh, and I saw some of the comments on his ratings. Most were pretty funny, and if he doesn't want his professional career affected by this maybe he shouldn't have gone to the media and made completely ignorant statements. I know I would think less of my own doctor if he made those types of statements in the media, even if they don't deal with anything medical.
