Heck, if I were an elite athlete, I'd want to secure myself a commitment, and then mayhaps see if the grass was greener elsewhere. Last db to do this was Jaheim Singletary, who committed, then dedommited, and then committed elsewhere. Who knows why, but read that he's 'portaled' and looking elsewhere. And, as NIL ages, there have been some hiccups with funding, and like Florida and A&M experienced, kids will flee if promises aren't met. PS, read a contract, and a clause reads "May be withdrawn at any time, for any reason". Wouldn't sign that for anything. Maybe we miss on some top guys, but overall, believe we'll do well. Just keep doing what you're doing tOSU.....

Nothing in those comments changes my view that Gilbert being in this class on signing day would be a nice bonus.

Tennessee looks to be the biggest threat to flip Gilbert from Ohio State and his recent visit back to Knoxville could be the impetus if anything is going to happen. The 2025 four-star defensive back from Atlanta (Ga.) Douglass continues to take visits with NC State and UNC visits over the weekend, USC soon and then Alabama later this month. But it feels like the Vols have made tremendous inroads.

He’s been labeled that for this entire year. Precisely because he’s done nothing but take visits to every school in the country. I’m not exactly sure how comfortable the staff is with so many visits

The longtime Ohio State commitment has been taking considerable unofficial visits elsewhere, and they could begin to create a ware on the initial Buckeye pledge. USC got him on campus last weekend and it could present as a true threat to OSU, but the same can be said for programs closer to home like Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee and others. Gilbert will remain on flip watch for the time being.

Just decommit at this point. I don't even consider him a commit honestly

If there is a team that’s the biggest threat to flip the 2025 four-star safety from Ohio State it could now be USC after an excellent visit there during his trip West for the Elite 11. Tennessee, South Carolina, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Alabama are others to watch as the Atlanta Westlake standout works through his recruitment.

Faheem Delane

Realistic other option:
Jamier Scott

And this is before their junior seasons are played and senior camp season has begun. Plenty of more names to emerge

Exactly, considered him a kid that likes our school. Going to another school he was going to anyways isn't a shock. We will be just fine.
