Game Thread Game Eleven: Ohio state 25, Michigan 21 (final)

I don't remember if any plays were reviewed or not, but I remember thinking that the guy must be passed out or asleep or dead.

On the play where the LATERAL went 4 yards BACKWARDS there was plenty of time before the next snap to page the ref and tell him that he blew the call and maybe ask him what he's smoking.

Both Musberger and Danielson were saying that the play would be reviewed, but ABC never showed a replay. Since the official in the booth gets video from the game feed, shouldn't ABC's director have known that he should show the replay when both announcers are calling for a review?

JT questioned it on the sideline, then walked away without yelling or bitching. I really enjoy the contrast between his sideline demeanor and that of LLLLoyd.

What won that game for the Buckeyes from a strategy standpoint was the fact that on that last possession, Tressel calmly decided that it was that series that would be the last one, and the decisive one. He grabbed the game by the throat.

The entire time before that, LLLLoyd had a chance to do something similar. I recall moment after moment where he could have made his stand and decided that he was going to determine the outcome of the game. As we all know, he didn't do that. As we all know, he NEVER does that. That was precisely what scared me to death up until their fat kicker punted the ball away. If LLLLoyd Carr ever decided just once to grab a game by the throat the way that Tressel does, it'd be damn near guaranteed to work, just because nobody would ever expect it.

This is just truley awesome. We beat Michigan in Ann Arbor!!! Only the 3rd time in my lifetime...yet the 2nd time in the last 3 tries. Next year's game is at home...we are undefeated against Michigan at home under tressel. I can't wait to see what Troy Smith does to end his amazing career next year. GO BUCKS!!!

I've been waiting since last November to write this: LLLoyd is now IVLoyd. God, that feels good. And next year when I get to write Vloyd it's going to feel even better.

I can see clearly now, the pain is gone....

Guys, consider the wisdom of this. At the end of next year, he becomes VLoyd, as in virtual Lloyd. This really deserves a great post award. This could really put the pressure on him.

Coverage and Officials SUCK!

Notice they called the Penalty on Ginn where Holmes scored the TD to make the score 21 - 19.....

ODD...

Gosh those Officals were bad

On the officiating and the announcers! The Big Ten relies on what they see from ABC footage to review a play. On the Smith fumble, it looked like his arm was clearly coming forward but not a single mention of that from any announcer.

LightningRod posted the link to Wojnowski's Detroit News column earlier, and honestly, I'm not surprised that this Moron still doesn't get it.

We can question the defense at the end and the missed tackles on Smith, certainly. We can wonder why the running game never got going this season, although Hart's injury had plenty to do with it. And yes, we can wonder why Tressel's formula -- great defense, efficient offense -- is working better than Carr's right now.
Gee, you douche, I wonder ... could it be because the "defense wins championships" cliche is proven to win national championships?

Fuck. Stupid Michigan people make me want to go off on a Planes, Trains and Automobiles like profanity laced tirade. Do these people not realize that the only national championship UM has won since the invention of the television was because of a defense that surrendered 114 points on the season (9.5 ppg). Statistically, the 1997 UM team had one of the worst offenses of any UM team in the Lloyd Carr era, yet somehow, they inconceivably managed to win 12 games and lose 0.

Oh, and buckeye4ever21 ... blow me. Here's a thought; why don't you complain about the offense?! Nobody's ever heard that before. :roll2:

I watched that replay a few times...clear fumble. His arm wasn't going forward before the ball got knocked out. The refs made some mistakes, but this wasn't one of them.

carr does not think hart is coming back. do not underestimate the chances for Voyd this year.

Jwin, got me on this one. Isn't Hart a sophomore? I thought he was a pure freshman last year.

We're in a news blackout here in Cincinnati, where the locals think Notre Dame is the only school playing football (except when OSU is kicking their butts or winning a NC). Nothing but Bengals coverage. Any news about Carp's injury? Any chance he can be back by a bowl game?

hart = soph. A few posts after the quoted one, I explained that I think carr was referring to an injury that would keep him out of a bowl game. Hence the greater likelihood of LLLLLoyd.

BTW, the scout board has taken to the similar reference to LLoyd. They don't all include 4 l's, but many capitalize both L's :)

 Gonzales. Out of bounds. Loyd carr loses his job for not seeing what 110 000 people saw and what the corner saw. Typical but necessary as Carr will lose his job and ohio will face another decade of Michigan dominance. Bask in the victory. Loyd is gone. And ohio will follow.

fans & players take on the style of their coach.

thanks for stopping by to whine. I guess next time Gonzo will have to break out his superhero skills to stay in bounds when your guy's left foot is on the line.

What would LLLLoyd seeing Gonzo being pushed out of bounds have done? Would he have thrown the red challenge flag?

Was the explanation about why no penalty occured there not enough for you?
