Game Thread Game Ten: Ohio State 38, Wisconsin 17 (final)

Yep.

Unless we walk off the Superdome carpet with a solid win over LSU we "stole" a NC with our schedule.
In any normal year, I wouldn't give a shit who OSU plays, but you bring up a good point. LSU fans aren't fucking normal. In fact, they're whack.

If OSU doesn't beat LSU for the national title, there will be LSU fans over here registering names like LSUoverOSU and posting 17 page manifestos of why OSU isn't the National Champion.

On the other hand, while I always want an undisputed championship, if we do happen to dodge LSU, I almost hope OSU gets BC or somebody, while LSU plays Oregon or ASU or Oklahoma and also wins, claiming #1 in the final AP poll.

If we can't play LSU, it would be a guilty pleasure telling them how hollow and worthless their 2007 AP title is. :tongue2:

Orson Swindle, of EDSBS fame (now w/ the Sporting News), picks OSU.

The slow march of Ohio State to No. 1 seemed so ordinary: Week 5, still undefeated. Week 6? Undefeated. Week 7, Week 8 ... it all seemed so ordinary, so inevitable, until you looked up on Nov. 1 and realized that, yes, they'd taken over again one play at a time.

...

The pick: Ohio State, taking over college football one body at a time: "Sooner or later, you'll have to go to sleep."

At the end of the day as long as we have the hardware I don't really give a shit. All the arguing will give us something to do during the off season.:wink2:

A win over LSU in New Orleans however would change it from arguing to just trolling because there wouldn't be shit SEC fans could say and they wouldn't be coming here to say it. We'd be the ones having to go post manifesto's on SEC sights about not drawing too big of conclusions from one game(of course you'd have to 'splain to them what a manifesto was and such but you get my point).

I agree, if at the end of the day in New Orleans on 7 Jan 08 you can take a picture like this (except I think there is a different sponser for the 2008 trophy) I'll be one happy camper. :osu:

I simply meant that when we last played them, they didn't have the ability to even stop our reserves. I don't count it as running up the score if the starters aren't on the field. That's just a lack of execution on the opposing team.

The why did Tressel bring his first-team offense back on the field after NW returned the second-half kickoff for a touchdown? We were still up by 38 points. I'll tell you why...JT wanted to tell them, "How dare you fucking score on us." There was no other reason for us to answer that score as quickly as we did but to bitch-smack them back down on the ground. Had we been up on Indiana or Minnesota or Iowa 45-0 at half and then surrendered the opening kickoff for a TD, Tressel wouldn't have come back with his full first-string and attacked (we scored on a 48-yard Boeckman-to-Small bomb).

True. but that was only one drive. Even the announcers said he should do that.

Well if we do go there and if we do win, at least we don't have that God-awful Fiesta Bowl trophy with it.....that thing was gaudy.

2 things.

1.) If LSU hadn't lost to the team that lost to Miss. St as well as the team that Kent St. (A team we beat solidly) was able to hang around with for the 1st half, they wouldn't be in this boat to complain.

2.) If LSU goes and wins the game, we can easily blame it on the home field advantage. Even if OSU doesn't go to the game, I wouldn't want LSU in it for that very reason.

We still have to play Wisconsin, right?

As long as this team stays focused on the team they play next, shit will take care of itself, and LSU "can stay home and play with themself" (thanks Caddyshack) during the national championship.

If Tressel wasn't running it up, why didn't he pull the starters once we were up 21-0, even though it was still in the first half? Tressel has yanked starters that early before, but he didn't against Northwestern.

I think I'll go back and rewatch the first half of that game and see just when Tressel pulled starters and which ones he did. I doubt he yanked that entire starting unit for the entire second quarter like you said.

Back to the original thread topic, Tressel will run it up...

RB7OSU, I'm with you. Fricker's for lunch and the game Saturday.

If they don't have it then Ralphie's.

I like what the D-linemen are doing this year. They have not been the Steel Curtain or anything but good solid play, never out of position, seemingly, and allowing the linebackers to make the stops in the gaps, AT THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE and not 7 yards down field. I'm good with it.

My only two worries are (1) Wisky always does play us well -- not sure if that was Alvarez or not -- and (2) the tall freshman WR from Glenville might get inspired to have a Lee Evans-like day. My prediction is that we give him the four yard reception all day. Hit him. Wait for the pick. Just don't let him get behind us.

Stop the run first means our safeties and LBs will be attacking all day. I like it!! I would love to see Donovan try to light us up and get sacked 7 or 8 times. Sweet!

Go Bucks! Just win, baby!
