-EngineerHorn: That picture is a nice addition, good lookin' out
-High Lonesome: I scored a 35 on that test, definitely a yankee. Also, you asked how the bucks would stop VY, I think the linebackers will be up to the challenge. How will you stop Ted Ginn and Santonio Holmes?

....About the band pictures- You can clearly read "Ohio" on both sides of the field, but what does the other one say? Texas, Taxas, Lexas, Laxas, Iaxas....

There is some hilarious shit on this thread, thanks everyone for keeping me entertained.

the script texas is not one that you see often but given the opponent we thought that it might make for a nice addition.

about the homers on hf, that is one of the reasons that i am over here so much. to tell you the truth most fans on any message board drive me insane. This place has been a very nice suprise. I can't post on hf because of i can't have cookies at work, but sometimes strange things come out of the woodwork. In their defense many texas fans are on the defensive after the last couple of years of having great teams crapped on by the media because of one loss in october.

If only all women were airbrushed in such a fine manner. I'm not complaining or anything, just saying... looking at pictures like that leads to extreme disappointments in the real world.
Haha, anyways... carry on!

Bands and Stuff

Interesting older pic of Longhorn Band script Texas. It does look like Lexus in that picture. Haa...college bands doing commercials at halftime. It would take a very large band to do Volkswagen--maybe VW.

I remember when the band started doing the script Texas in the 60's, and it was objected to because it was seen as a copycat of script Ohio. There was even an attempt to find some role for the sousaphone player, but, alas, no "I" to dot.
Anyway, the long time band director did it less and less as time went on. I wouldn't be surprised to see them do the script Texas at Columbus, if they bring the full band, but I personally think it would be lame and cheesy.

honestly its not a big thing here, its not like down there in the deep south
It's a big thing here!

I'm born and raised in, and still reside in, Lancaster, OH. The biggest landmark in the city is General William Tecumseh Sherman's home.

... people in Georgia have recognized the Fairfield County, OH plates on my car before, and some of them still think the civil war is going on. I've done public lectures in the South many times and received particularly lukewarm receptions in Charleston, SC and Columbia, SC when I announced I was from Lancaster, OH. :(

Eventually, I learned when doing seminars south of the Mason-Dixon Line to say I was from Columbus, rather than Lancaster.

"I am going to march to Richmond. And when I go through South Carolina it will be one of the most horrible things in the history of the World. The Devil himself could not restrain my men in that state." -- William T Sherman

"South Carolina is reaping at last the consequence of her treason ..." -- George W Pepper

Old Wounds Heal Slowly

I can see how Lancaster still holds closely memories of the Civil War, especially since Sherman is its favorite son. Perhaps there should be a separate thread regarding exchanges of information on the two states.

Texas, though it seceded, had its own vigorous arguments about joining the Southern cause. It was so vigorous that Governor Sam Houston vacated the governorship because he opposed secession.
