I was Front Office Manager at the Holiday Inn Downtown (City Center) for 2 years. I feel a little bit sorry for whoever is staying there....

Damn. That's sucks. Why is this the case? The pictures of the pool didn't look too bad. It's cool, even if it is a shithole, I didn't come for a damned bed'n'breakfast. I came to watch two titans duke it out.

Waiting until 11 AM to get started???

I know, I know. This is VERY Busch league. It's the flight that Hotwire assinged me. Any real tailgator can tell you that the party begins promptly at 8am with a breakfast burrito in one hand and a coldbeer in the other. Looks like I'll be playing a little bit of catchup.

Real Texans would never put catchup on their burritos. Gotta go with hot sauce!

8am??? Really I might just drink right through from the night before. C'mon, you know you can bring alcohol onto your flight. :drunks:

For you OSU fans

So I'll come right out and say that I'm a Texas fan, but I'm not a guy to do any trash-talking 4 months before the big game. I will say that I actually will be surprised if Texas wins, but I will be more surprised if it is any kind of blowout. I look forward to the big game.

Anyway, I wanted to come here to offer you Buckeyes some footage/highlights of my horns. I've heard that some of you haven't seen too much of Texas, so this is hopefully a start.

My apologies if this has been posted before. I didn't have the patience to scroll through 74 pages of message board talk to see if it had.

Enjoy, and I hope the game will be as good as advertised.

"Remember also that Texas, under Mack Brown, is a fairly poor Road Team. Mack struggles on the road in Lubbock, Stillwater, Manhattan, Iowa City, Dallas, Lawrence, & College Station. "

I usually just troll here and laugh at the overlookings of the buckeye faithful, but I just need to make a few quick points. Our starting RB next year, Selvin Young, who WILL be playing, is just as good as Benson, and is faster. Don't forget Ramonce Taylor, and Jamaal Charles(if you don't know who he is, I suggest you find out). And yes, they CAN run up the middle. Besides, with the best O-line in the country, just about anyone will be a succesful back for us.

Second, the quote from above..... Ok, here goes:

Mack at -

Lubbock: 2-2 (5-2 vs. Texas Tech)
Stillwater: 3-0 (Mack has NEVER lost to Okie State)
Manhattan: 1-1 (2-2 vs. K-State)
Iowa City: 2-0 (Mack has NEVER lost to Iowa State)
Lawrence: 2-0 (Mack has NEVER lost to Kansas)
College Station: 2-1 (6-1 vs. A&M)

Don't forget Mack also beat #7 Nebraska at Lincoln while Texas was unranked. The fact that you say Mack struggles on the road in any of these places, yet he doesn't have a single losing record against ANY team except Oklahoma, proves that SOMEONE didn't do their homework when making an ignorant statement.

For the poster who earlier asked if we have any other wide recievers to worry about? Well, no proven wide recievers, but 2 to watch out for. 1) Jordan Shipley, the leader in recieving yards in Texas High School history, tore an ACL last year about this time, but has recovered fully. Shipley was Vinces favorite target during last years spring practices, and reclaimed that position again this year. He won't be a deep threat, but will be dangerous on short out routes and wide reciever screens, as he is very fast. 2)Quan Cosby, a very speedy QB and DE from the 2001 class, has played minor league baseball the past few years, but has come back to play WR this year.

The ONLY wekness on our team at this point is our weakside LB spot, and we have a couple guys that I'm positive Chizik will have into shape and capable of performing at a high level. I don't really see OSU able to pump out the points in this game, unless you run trick players with Ginn quite often. Considering you have absolute unproven RB's, and an inconsistent probable starter in Smith, I just don't see the potency of this offense. I would say Texas offense has a better chance of scoring on OSU's defense, than OSU's offense has of scoring on Texas' defense, which will be just as good as OSU's.

Deflate er, Default,
It seems that your team has many unproven players that you ignore as weaknesses. When the circumstances are that you will be on the road at Ohio Stadium in your second(?) game of the season, having young and untested players will surely not be good my friend.

Pittman is not unproven. He just needs the light to come on. He and Haw(Jeez) are still better than our last RB. I think you sir, are ignorant for your statement about Smith. He more than proved himself in a game you can't relate to. He has IMHO finer passing skills than what Texas offers in a QB. He does not throw floaters either....

As for your last statement. Are you in one of those dream sequences they have on TV?? Our D will be one of the top 5 in the country this year bud. How in the hell do you get the notion that you guys will score with more ease on us than the other way around? Young will be runnin for his life- Selvin is not Cedric and I doubt, like most others, we let the run game get untracked for you guys.

Don't go around calling people ignorant when you have so many "unprovens" up your skirt. :wink2:

Well, if Selvin was as good as Benson and is faster than him, why didn't he beat out Benson as starter, hmmm? As for Texas having "the best O-line in the country", I'm glad you feel so highly about your team...we'll see just how good they are against a top-notch defense. Seems to me that the last time Texas faced such a defense, they didn't even put a single point on the board.

Well, that's against Big 12 teams. I made a post earlier about Mack's record against OOC teams in BCS conferences, which far more closely applies to our game, seeing as Ohio State is an OOC team in a BCS conference. Mack is 4-4 against such OOC teams at Texas, including losses against teams with losing records. By the way, Ohio State is 18-3-1 all-time against Big 12 teams at The Shoe, including 8-0 since our last second loss to Oklahoma in 1977. Don't overlook those numbers...

BTW, default isn't one user but any number of individuals that wanders over from HornFans. So sometimes you're gonna get trollers and other times intelligent posters.

As for talking about Mack's record, he has yet to play someone as good as OSU in his OOC schedule. Of the BCS teams he has faced OOC, he has as many losses as wins and UCLA was the only pretty good team out of that list (pretty good = better than just good, as Brown has faced a number of good OOC opponents).

Pittman gained 5 YPC last year, and is as proven if not moreso than Ramonce. Selvin Young is indeed a stout runner, however I'd remind you that your team did not open up big running lanes for Benson in the rose bowl at all.

Your OL is good, but Michigan's was just as good last year and we tore them apart. This doesn't mean that the same will happen to you, but your line is definitely beatable. And unlike scUM's horrendous LB's and safeties, ours know how to tackle and smack you in the mouth. And don't expect moronic pass rushing and defensive scheming like in the rose bowl.

Most of those were not VY making something happen. Most of those were designed run plays that the defense refused to adjust to. The kid is a freak and should not be written off by any means, but you will see a much different game in the horseshoe.
