Losing Benson

Losing Benson should not be understated, yet Benson benefitted more from having Vince in the backfield then Vince benefitted from Ced, being in the backfield.

They were a dynamic tandem, each having the ability to perform well without the other... However I don't think Selvin & or Ramonce will be that much of a letdown in the running game.

Takin nothing away from BENSON... he was a bruiser... but I think it will be a different running style, that benefits or offense even more... if able to execute...

I am getting even more AMPED for the game, each passing day.

I understand where you're coming from, but I'll take Clarett & Benson over any faster/smaller back anyday (I realize Selvin's much bigger than Ramonce). I realize VY/Ced surely fed off of each other's abilities, but don't underestimate how helpful it would be to have a battle-tested bruiser like Benson holding onto the ball. When Ramonce cuts back and is blindsided by Hawk/Carpenter/etc, you will miss Benson. Even if the play doesn't result in a fumble, the hit will be more punishing to your 05 RBs than it would be to Benson.

Oh... no doubt... :BENSON had some big shoes to fill... 6th on all-time list... But what I am saying is that in comparison to Benson our backs may be a small letdown... but not to the point where it leaves our running game in shambles.

Man... I don't think Anybody wants to cut back and see HAWK...or Carpenter... unless they had a weapon of some sort.

Or a large shield covered in piping hot tar. I hear where you're coming from. I would compare it to Michigan losing Edwards. Nobody can replace him, but they have enough talented youngsters to continue their success in that facet of their offense.

The 05 texas offense should be exactly the same but completely different. We will still be a spread offense with a dominant rushing attack. Gone, however, is the constant positive yardage. Benson had a remarkable ability to gain yardage no matter the situation. That will not be the case with selvin or RT. No longer will we look up at the score board or down at the box score and say, " benson had 150?" When the 05 running backs rack up 150 it will be in spectacular fashion. They are home run hitters and much flashier than the man that they are attempting to replace. There will be plays where they are stopped in the backfield, there will also be more than a couple long TD runs or catches. For better or worse these are our 2005 texas longhorns and they should be fun to watch.

Texas fans shouldn't worry about their running game. They have Ramonce who i hear is just like Reggie Bush :roll2:
I think the only comparison that can be made to Reggie Bush right now, is Romance is speedy, and seemingly see;s the field well... We have only seen flashes of him in game time situations. But he has the POTENTIAL to be great...

He did find a way to get positive yardage, he racked up the Yards after Contact...

I hope Selvin learned somethings waiting watching Cedric.... I think Selvin is a stud... Reminds me of a bigger, however a step slower version of Shon Mitchell...who got lost in the Ricky Williams shuffle...

i thought that you were refering to the 7 page discussion that took place on this thread, I should not try to put words in your mouth and you should find a new source for texas football information. RT is a very dynamic player but bush he is not, or hopefully just not yet

Which one is going to be more effective between the tackles... the best way to attack out LB's is to run at staright at them... (Although in this case "best" isn't necessarily all that good).
