HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

Keep in mined that the transfer portal works a little different now; QBs won't come cheap. It could easily cost upwards to $2M to get a can't miss top flight QB (if there is one) out of the transfer portal. See the going NIL rate for QBs:

https://draftwire.usatoday.com/lists/shedeur-sanders-nfl-nil-caleb-williams-arch-manning/

Ranking the top 10 CFB players NIL deals

1) Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders - $4.8 Million

2) Texas QB Arch Manning - $2.8 Million

3) USC QB Caleb Williams - $2.7 Million

4) WR

5) Michigan QB J.J. McCarthy - $1.4 Million

6) South Carolina QB Spencer Rattler - $1.4 M

7) Oregon QB Bo Nix - $1.4M

8) WR

9) Washington QB Michael Penix Jr. - $1.3M

10) North Carolina QB Drake Maye - $1.3M

Im not plugged into how NIL is actually being used (bagmen vs legitimate advertising), but...
1. Looks like the going rate is 1-1.5mil. Everyone over 2mil on that list is a "special" case. You may even say a head case.
2. A bidding war could break out, but i suspect a real "cant miss" transfer will have legitimate NIL deals that can translate to any market. As in, they're not just getting paid by a booster.
2b. To double down, QB is generally the most marketable face on the team.
3. Do we really think some boosters wouldn't have ponied up 2mil for Fields ? Our pockets arent as deep as ATM... but i suspect there's an appetite for an elite QB.

Always have.
Day needs to be on the phone with him every week.
If i could appoint him AD, i would.

Harbaugh' laughable 3 game suspension for rigging games across CFB (CMU, SC) should be absolute proof that his treatment for being a side character in the CBus edition of Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard was.... wholly unjustified.

I gave Day a pass after the loss last week. He got beat by two teams that were stealing signals and another team that was loaded with seniors at home. However, after watching that game last I'm leaning more towards believing he's not the guy. Day has way too much talent on the roster to be getting handled by a relatively mediocre group of michigan players, even if mccord is average and they are all 25.

I’m fine with this but shocked to actually hear it.
  • On whether the team's quarterback play was what it needed to achieve its goals: "When you come up short, you've got to look at everything, because you didn't get it done ... and we will look at everything."
  • Day wouldn't commit to whether or not Kyle McCord will be the team's starting quarterback next season, right now he's just focused on bowl preparation, he said. "That's a long way away right now. ... We've got to get back to work right now."
  • Day also isn't ready to say exactly how he'll deploy the team's quarterbacks in the Cotton Bowl. "Just not there yet."
  • Evaluating McCord from this season: "I think there were a lot of really good things this year. ... As time went on, Kyle got better as the season went on. ... So I think there was growth there for sure and I think he's a good quarterback, I do. After every year you evaluate everything and try to figure out what's next."

Nothing about his vanilla play calling or the inability of the OL to protect his QB. Let’s hope he’s serious about upgrading these areas.
