Hey now lets look at the fantasy we can still live remember any given saturday...

We probably fall to 8th since BC lost.
Kansas and Missu still play plus the winner will lose to Oklahoma in the Big 12 game so we jump those 2 putting us 6th
Oregon still has its perinial let down game coming and WVU still has UConn and the Backyard Brawl (I can dream, remeber this is just my bedtime prayers I am saying here...) so two more down and we are 4th
Pray Oklahoma goes down prior to the Big 12 game... we are third.
That leaves LSU in the SEC game still to play and ASU with USC left.

Is this really that hard to look forward to with the way this season has gone? Its very stupid realistically we could end at 1 again (yeah, right voters... I forgot). Possible to get to 2 and most likely we end in the top 5. WTF is wrong with that?

COME ON NOW----- O-H everyone!

:io: Sparky.

Nice post and there's a scenario that I'd love to see happen and if any year is the year for something like that it's this crazy, whacky year.

yeah I thought of some of the scenario's myself. Its possible but we'll need a Weis sized ass load of things to go our way.

I saw for the second week in a row a flat team. No energy. We were
outplayed on both sides of the ball. Boeckman had a lot of pressure and had arguably his worse game. Teams have figured out a way to defend us.
They roll coverage to Robo. Try to crowd the line of scrimmage as much as possible. Injure Beanie if they can. And hope we show up flat.
We did and it cost us big time.
And they got a huge break on their first touchdown as replay clearly showed a fumble into the endzone that Coleman recovered.
Where was the replay officials? Why wouldn't it get looked at?
It made all the difference in a tight game.
Most disappointing was a perceived lack of effort on both sides of the ball.

And I don't want to play a spread team like Illinois in a Bowl game! :smash:

Couple more things:

1) Why so many blown coverages?

2) Where was Malcolm Jenkins.. dont think I saw him til after the game, throwing punches... why isnt our best defensive player utilized at all

3) Why 3-3-5 and nickel defenses for so much of the game when it was evident we were getting bullied up front?

4) Why the infautation with Mendenhall to the point where we were letting the QB run wherever he wanted to, and the WRs and TEs running free all over? Seems like our scheme was counting on Illinois having only one playmaker when in reality they have about 4-5..

5) Painful watching Brian Gamble play well.. always thought he was a player OSU should have went after

6) At some point it's frustrating when you have legit cover corners, and they're just dropping into zone every play.. especially in a game like this one, where we could have used extra men in the box, while leaving our corners on man to man islands... Instead the zone defense neutralizes our talented CBs..

7) Anderon Russell and Chekwa.. boys gotta be more under control when they blitz, which is often, they run right past the play..

Ah, i could go on, but forget it.. just disappointed with the scheme today.. basically put our talented athletes on D, on the defensive.. i never got the idea we were enforcing our will... seems like we should have forced a situation where Juice had to stick in the pocket and make reads.. as opposed to us letting him run and around and hit open receivers..

We should have done exactly what we did in 2005 to Vince Young.. same offense.. even better athletes and better QB.. yet we focused on keeping him in the pocket.. spying him.. and making him throw the football and make reads..

That didnt happen today.. we were wreckless with our blitzes, we focused way too much on Mendenhall, and when we did force Juice to stay in the pocket, we broke down all over the place in the secondary...

Hard to believe OSU couldnt get off the field for 8 minutes in the 4th quarter, in the Shoe, with the NC hopes on the line, against a solid but nothing special Illinois offense

My point exactly. And why the entire country is feeling vindicated for giving us no respect all year. We played like a 1-9 team.
Okay. If you want to look at it that way feel free. We lost a game and are 10-1 with a shot at the outright Big-10 title and a trip to the Rose Bowl in what was supposed to be a rebuilding year. Not too shabby if you ask me.

Go back and read through his recruiting thread. It wasn't an issue of talent. It was, if I remember correctly, an issue of grades. Same with their tight end Cumberland.

Boeckman has been making those throws all year and Robo, Hartline, and the TEs have been making the catches. Three INTs and 3 dropped passes by Nicol and Ballard made significant differences in the game. The spread offense was effective because we were rushing our DBs and LBs to the corners while the middle was wide open for the run and pass. I thought we would have made adjustments at the half; however, we didn't. You can believe that if we face the Ducks in the Rose Bowl, we will not put so much effort on the corners in that game.
