It's going to be USC, whats everyones thoughts?

Maybe in this one we try some Tressel clock/game management.
Keep their offense off the field and out of rhythm.

And their defense is very young(though very fast) and will get
"formation-ed" to death by Tress.

Get them thinking instead of just reacting.

Key SC weaknesses:
1). Booty has a very slow release and takes too long to get set in the pocket. It would be imperative that we bring pressure and force some bad throws. SC's pass protection has also been shaky at times.

2). SC doesn't have much of a passrush. On paper, Jackson and Ellis are very good players, but they haven't produced.

To compensate for their weakness on offense, I expect to see them trying to establish a semblance of a running attack early in the game to take some heat off Booty. If they allow Booty to have some time in the pocket, then it's a good bet that someone will get open. The matchup that worries me most is Steve Smith vs. Antonio Smith. While Jarrett is the big name WR, Smith was the one who torched Oklahoma's secondary in the national championship game a couple of years ago. The key for Ohio State is to stop Gable/Washington and pressure Booty.

Given the number of LBer/S hybrids that SC has, expect Carroll to blitz a lot from the LBer position. I think their back seven will do a better job of sticking around with our WRs than Michigan's. However, SC's LBers are a bit slow and out of position at times, so we should be able to establish a running game.

I expect somewhat of a defensive struggle in the first two quarters, with Ohio State pulling away in the second half.

If I'm Malcolm Jenkins or Antonio Smith, I'm not sleeping very well at the thought of covering Jarrett though. Obscene!

Let us not forget that USC was going up against a notoriously piss pour defensive secondary last night in Notre dame. I propose that we save the inside the pants ejaculation for the talking heads whose job it is to hype the shit out of the title game matchup.

Ever since last years Fiesta Bowl, it hasn't been exactly a secret about how opposing offenses should attack that ND secondary. TSUN and SC were only following the blue print laid down by Tressel last January. ND is lucky they played such a weak schedule because I thought there would have been a couple more teams that would have been able to cash in on their obvious weaknesses. Was there any question going into this season that UM and SC would be able to burn them deep. No question at all.

As for USC, they are clearly inferior overall to scUM and if it wasn't for Doug Datish's injured hand the Buckeyes would have won that game by no fewer than 17 points. I'm just so fucking happy that it looks like our Buckeyes won't have to face scUM for a second time. That is, as long as SC takes care of business across town. Not exactly a given. Remember, SC is still the same team who lost on the road to Oregon State this year. That UCLA game probably won't be a cake walk for them.

Go Buckeyes!!!!

I think people are underestimating USC. They've lost a few games over a few YEARS by a total of not so many points.

When was the last time USC was beaten soundly?

I think we'd be in for a dogfight, but I have full confidence that Troy would be the difference maker.

USC still has to beat UCLA, people...

Assuming that USC gets that done, we can then turn this into the official game thread and sticky it.

If tOSU plays USC, Jarrett will make some big plays on offense. USC's defense is young and improving, but Troy Smith lives for big games.

UM DBs < USC DBs

[FONT=&quot]Quinn ran well last night because USC didn't put a spy on him. They will have to do that against Troy, which will open up the passing game more than ND had. OSU has the ability to burn any defense in 3 ways: Traditional running game, Passing game, and QB scramble. It is hard if not impossible to stop all three. IMO USC's defense will have a hard time stoping the run without stacking the box and going one on one with the WR's
Booty on the other hand faced a lot of pressure last night, and will face even more if he has to go up against the Silver Bullets. DJ will make some plays because he is the best WR that OSU will have faced all season, but the key will be to stop the run and knock Booty around. If Booty spends the whole game running for his life and trying to make plays the game will go well for OSU. scUM didn't make any mistakes against OSU, which was the biggest key to why the score was close. I don't picture USC not making mistakes. OSU wins by > 6

ASSUMING it is USC -

1. There could be as much speed on that field as any game in the history of CFB.

2. USC impressed me more last night than any game I have seen them play. They are extremely talented at every position. But they are young and still making mistakes. Against OSU they can't afford many.

3. Their running game did not impress me, but their game plan was designed around the pass - so who knows.

4. Booty seemed to get antsy under pressure. With the type of schemes Heacock is famous for he should see lots of pressure and have a chance to make lots of mistakes.

5. ND moved the ball well without a running game to speak of. Against Michigan we used the pass to set up the run. Against USC we do it the old fashioned way.

6. It will be fun to go up against Davis and Jarrett.

7. This is a reasonably even matchup til you come to the QBs. If Quinn could run for 74 yards imagine what Troy could do. If Quinn can throw for 274 yards with only two receivers worth mentioning, imagine what Troy could do.

8. The game planning matchup between coaches is far more lop-sided than the matchup between QBs.

9. Hopefully USC isn't thinking about their game with OSU as much as we are - or it will be Michigan.

I wonder which game film Tressel and the other coaches are studying right now? You gotta figure all of this extra time we get to prepare has to be a big advantage (not to mention all the extra tickets our fans our buying right now).
