Jarrett Guarantano (QB Tennessee, transfer to Washington State)

and just where is that slacker @RB07OSU

where is your detailed review.. sheez... just gotta stay on some people to do their jobs

Get the Delorian (provided you are set with a flux capacitor) and go back to page 3

i though Birm from 11W said Guarantano was the top guy? plus it seems like theres more activity towards guarantano then Haskins, especially knowing Guarantano is supposed to announce earlier then Haskins.

No reason to doubt Birm but the only way to know definitively is to be on the coaching staff (every recruit with an offer is essentially lead to believe they are the top guy). But connecting the dots of where our activity has been geared, it certainly seems that Guarantano is our top target and frankly that is how I feel. I had Haskins ahead of Guarantano and I will be eager to compare Haskins junior film to Jarrett's, but I would give the nod to Jarrett after watching that film. Throwing the ball, the end results are highly comparable (different throwing styles but they get the ball where they need to quick)...but Jarrett has the superior running ability it seems, has 2-3 inches on Haskins, and would help our plight in getting Gary, who is a crucial target for '16 (especially if we miss on Beckner).

Regardless and to stay on topic, Guarantano is my favorite QB in the '16 class. He just seems to have everything

+Elite Arm strength for a HS kid
+Elite Accuracy for a HS kid completing 65% of his passes
+Great Speed for a QB, seems even faster then his 4.6 40
+Very Quick release
+Sets his feet to throw often
+A few times in his film he put his head down and trucked a defender, at 200 pounds, but also has some good shake in his runs
+Great student with a 3.9

plus having him and Walker helps even more for Gary

I like all your points, just like to add that after watching his highlights, he's a sub 4.6 guy, looks like 4.5 40 guy. Don't know how he's only listed as a pro style QB. Love how he drives the ball to get it to his receivers. Love the size and arm strength of the QBs OSU is targeting. Those highlights plus potential other targets around him vaults him ahead of Haskins in my opinion. A commitment here would mean the QB position won't need to be addressed again until 2018.

Just watched a minute of his jr year on hudl. Young man looks legit, extremely quiet in pocket, great arm strength, quick release. I think it's interesting he's listed as pro style QB because he can flat move and make people miss in the open field. Love his potential and would love to nail down the top three players in NJ this year. It would make me happy to crush Franklin in his "owned territory". Go get 'em, coach!

These are my sentiments exactly...wow, was I impressed with Jarrett's junior film. Part of why I liked Haskins so much, especially in shorts, was his release. But Jarrett has improved his mechanics so much compared to what I saw the year prior. Plus his frame is something that gives him an obvious nod over Haskins and others, considering the style of offense OSU runs. I'm still watching junior film of Haskins but I've seen all I need to see to say that Jarrett is at the top of my board among the offered QBs for 2016, and that includes Malik Henry who I like an awful lot. And he is SUCH an athlete in the open field and on the designed runs. The fact that Jarrett and Kareem Walker could somehow help OSU with guys like Rashan Gary and Ahmir Mitchell is just a bonus.

I thought the same. I think today I would rather have Haskins, but projecting them down the line Jarrett's ceiling is much higher. Haskins is still a better passing QB, but Jarrett is way more athletic, and improved his passing substantially from his sophomore to junior tape. I specifically remember feeling uneasy when I watched his sophomore tape and knew we were recruiting him hard. Not anymore.
