Just Curious: What's your honest opinion of LSU?

I'm familiar with OSU and what y'all are capable of and to tell you the truth, I'm more nervous than a whore at church at the thought of playing y'all for the title. I mean, y'all have more than enough motivation after that game last year. So, what do you think about us?

Underachievers or overrated take your pick. I could be wrong but LSU does not look like the world beaters ESPN has made them out to be. They haven't looked that way since the VA Tech game.

As for the game itself I love the matchup. It should be a hard fought game decided in the 4th quarter. Your team is battle tested to say the least and we will come in with a huge chip on our shoulders ala 2002.

Well the first thing that pops into mind is that LSU has had luck on their side all year long. That's not a knock, Ohio State has been there time and again too.

I think LSU's offense can be stopped. I don't think the struggles they had against Tennessee were unusual at all, LSU hasn't exactly been crisp on offense since the Kentucky game.

I think LSU shoots itself in the foot way too much to be considered an "elite" team, but that isn't really a knock either, there aren't any elite teams this year anyway. LSU has had penalties in both games that it lost that both prevented it from winning in regulation and prevented it from winning in OT. I do think they can be rattled as a team and will commit needless penalties from time to time.

As for the defense, this should be an interesting game. I don't think LSU will be able to embarrass Ohio state like Florida did simply becuase Ohio State 2006 is much different from OHio STate 2007. The schemes are different and more importantly the personnel are also very different. Gone is the timing and precision passing offense of last year and it's been replaced by the power running and play action passing game. Timing isn't nearly as important in that type of offense.

Special teams are about even, your kicker is better, OHio State's punter is better. The return games are about even I think.

Should be a good game. Anyone predicting a blowout doesn't watch enough college football

As much as I hate to say this, I think that's how most Tiger fans see it too. I think part of it is that week 1, we had the most Vanilla playcalling I have ever seen, yet still beat Miss St. by 45 in the rain on the road. Then the following week, we just punched Va Tech right in the mouth and embarrassed them. Knowing that we're capable of putting on the kinda show has kept us high in the ratings. Not putting on that kind of show ever again (not even against Tulane) has Tiger fans wondering why?

I think LSU matches up really well with us. To be honest, I think this will be a difficult game for us to win. Of course, there is nothing more in the world I want than a Buckeye victory (fuck world peace, this is football). I would shank a bitch for a Buckeye championship.

I just think their running backs will have some success on us, Perrilloux reminds me of the problems we had with Tebow last year, and Doucet is very talented. Their OL as well is pretty solid with a weak spot at RT. On defense, the DL is one of the few best in the country, especially the rotation at DT led by Dorsey. I am still concerned with the quickness of our tackles when taking on both DE's and blitzers. Also, Cordle is definitely going to need some help on Dorsey, which will take away another blocker. At LB, they are very solid, and at DB, Xenon and Steltz are playmakers, but the second CB is sometimes susceptible.

To me, while it is a gross simplification, I believe this game comes down to Boeckman and the OL. I really hope they are up to the challenge.

I think LSU is a pretty good team, but honestly I don't think you deserved to jump up to #2 a week after losing. I am glad we are matched up with you because IF we win, that would be something to shut up all the SEC trolls that trash us day in and day out. Now to the breakdown.

There are only 2 real concerns for me:

I'm not sold on our kick off or punt coverages, Trindon Holliday makes me nervous.

Being able to run to set up the pass, Dorsey and Co. will be healthy, and though I think Beanie is awesome and that he can do some damage, I don't like the thoughts of Boeckman having to deal with 3rd down and 6's etc. Not a realy big concern for me, but a one none the less.

Things I'm not worried about:

Having our team composed in a theoretical home game for LSU. For one, there will be a ton of OSU fans there, and two we have proven we can handle an extremely hostile enviroment and take care of business (at PSU).

Stopping Hester, he is a very good RB, but we are in my opinion the best D in the league, and we excell at smashmouth football which is what he relies on. OSU is good at stopping powerful backs like him (Ringer and Caulcrick, Hart etc)

I expect a very physical low-scoring game. Most fans will attack that and say how boring it was, but we OSU and LSU fans will certainly enjoy it.

That being said, look for OSU to come out so pumped it's not even funny. They would like nothing better then to avenge last years travesty, I can't see this game being anywhere near the same as last years in either direction.

Don't let some over-confident homers here mislead into thinking most Buckeye fans are counting on winning...we learned our lesson the hard way 11 months ago. LSU has a shit-load of talent, and despite the fact LSU lost two OT games to teams that they shouldn't have, as crazy as this season has been from start to end, that's not all the shameful. I will be very, very happy if we're victorious against a very solid LSU club.

Solid team all-around. From what I have seen, they have been a little disappointing on defense. But that happens when you play Heisman candidates every week (Woodson, McFadden, Tebow, specifically). I've seen glimpses of greatness from LSU's defense, but I've seen quite a few mistakes as well. People have moved the ball against them.

Offensively, they can be slowed. If we can make them one-dimensional, I like our chances. We have three different backs who can keep LSU's defense off-balance if our defense can control the game. Matt Flynn and Ryan Perrilloux have both made some great throws this season. Perrilloux is mobile and this concerns me. LSU's running backs are on par with USC's. If we get physical we can keep them from controlling the game up the middle (this will be tough - Hester runs with a lot of heart), but we must prevent Holliday from burning us on the outside. I think our CB Jenkins is the best defensive back in the country and Doucet will have problems with him.

I think our DEs will give your offensive line trouble, but I think our DTs will have problems. I have no idea how our offensive line will perform against your defensive line. If Dorsey is healthy, he's a beast. But we have the best o-line in the country.. should be interesting to see the best d-line go up against the best o-line.

All that being said, I think LSU has a ton of talent on both sides of the ball. Any team would struggle against the competition that LSU has faced, and add injuries to the mix and it's difficult to truly judge LSU's performance. I feel like I just tore LSU apart.. but believe me, I think LSU is a fantastic team. I picked them to go to the championship all year and never backed down.

The team? Great athletes, a lot of threat at almost every position.

The Coach? Obnoxious Michigan grad.

The Program, meh, when the USC/LSU NC split happened I was pissed, I thought they got screwed and it wasn't fair. I have never really had anything against the program, I thought they had done well. The LSU fans I have met have been cool, some even pointing out that "SEC Speed is a myth, but just saying it really pisses off Buckeyes"

That about sums it up lol. Should be an EXCELLENT game and I can't wait for it to be here. I'll be watching from a cruise ship, as I was last year. Hopefully it isn't some type of "bad luck" charm .
