LaDainian Tomlinson (NFL HOF)

Well, I can't say Tomlinson is the best back yet... although it is impressive that he's already in that conversation. Honestly, even before this year it was impressive how good he actually is. Living in southern Cali, we have one pro football team and that would be the Chargers, and he was impressive even when the team wasn't.

This year, however, is just amazing. He's carried that team through quite a few victories doing everything he had to, down to passing. To me that's the more impressive thing, is what he does when it's all on the line.

One thing to remember though, Lorenzo Neal, that guy is a freak of nature. Possibly the best FB in the game.

Hypothetically speaking, if LT and Barry Sanders ended up with the same number of rushing yards and same number of touchdowns, but LT has 1 Super Bowl ring and Barry has none, who would you take to be better? LT and maybe only because he has the Super Bowl Ring and Barry doesn't, but that's what can seperate two outstanding players.
Their rushing numbers are comparable, but Barry Sanders wasn't as good a reciever and didn't score TD's at the clip LT has so far.
Barry Sanders after 6 seasons...
8672 YR, 4.8 YPC, 68 TD

LT in sixth season (1 game to go)...
9110 YR, 4.5 YPC 111 TD

Barry was a GREAT back, but LT is actually ahead of him at this point in his career.

LT certainly has all of the tools to be one of the all-time greats, but he still has a ways to go. I love how tough he plays, and the cuts that he makes are ridiculous. Against KC he faked outside, and cut on his inside foot almost seamlessly.

But the thing is, is he really as humble as everyone says he is? I mean i'm sure he's a nice guy, but everyone makes him out to be a saint. I'll admit that I don't watch him talk a lot except from sportscenter stuff, but I was just wondering.

Meh, in interviews he's always "we" versus "I" and we went out to a raiders game early last year and he was out there signing jerseys and seemed really cool, no idea how he is when no one is around but everyone I have known to encounter him says he's really "friendly and/or polite."

NFBuck, good point on LT's productivity and versatility.

Though, in Sander's defense, you have to give him the benefit of the doubt of being by far the best player on offense on a pretty pathetic "O" in Detroit.

Well, something to consider in regards to Tomlinson, he's been in the league for 6 years now and when he first came in he didn't have anywhere near the line they have now.

However, it's tough to compare the two, personally, I just try to think of Tomlinson as a great back and watching him is watching a piece of history. Sanders did so much for the game, he's a piece of history and watching videos of him still to this day amaze me. Perhaps when Tomlinson is retired he'll be held in the same high regard.

L.T. wins AP Offensive Player award

BARRY WILNER

Associated Press

NEW YORK - With a bushel full of records and an MVP award already in his 2006 collection, LaDainian Tomlinson added The Associated Press NFL Offensive Player of the Year to his resume Friday.
Could there have been any doubt after L.T. made everything look EZ in sparking the San Diego Chargers to the NFL's best record (14-2)?

The Greatest NFL Player of all time Is Not Tomlinson

Where Ladainian Tomlinson is a Great Player, He is not Jerry Rice, Whom in My Mind is the Greatest NFL Player who has ever played the game... I mean, you also have elite greats, such as Staubach, Montana, Emmitt Smith, Payton, Bettis, Starr, Bradshaw, Swann, I mean I could go on all day with Elite NFL names, but like I said, in my mind, nobody will ever pass Jerry Rice, and my all time favorite Football Player is the player in my picture... EDDIE ROCKS!!!

I think it is amazing what he does on the field. Does he deserve to mentioned as the greatest player yet? maybe. I think he will be when he is done. I think we need to sit back and just watch. He is going to do some amazing things in his career. We don't get many like him in our lifetime. If you have any doubt of him, I think the one thing you can blame it on is what every superstar that plays on the west coast suffers from, "exposure".

Yes LT Does rank with the names I mentioned, but I don't like hearing that he is The Greatest Player of all time... Because that is such a hypocritical statement, and it pays disrespect to Jerry Rice and the players I mentioned...

Remember LT is still young so at the end of his career we will find out were he measures among the greatest. Its kind of hard to tell right now at his age.
