Dell just launched a blog called One2One: Direct Conversations with Dell and it took a blog second for Jeff Jarvis to snark down their throats. Jarvis has been on a Dell rant for over a year due to some truly horrific tech support experiences he calls his Dell Hell. Just page through Jarvis' archive of posts on the topic. They include links to multiple stories in the press, like this, or this. about Dell's widespread support problems. OK, I know Dell's only posted about seven blog entries so far and a blog is a step in the right direction...but they better start addressing the elephant in the room instead of waxing nostalgic about how it's "hard for me to believe that it has been 10 years for www.dell.com." Jarvis quips "I think I spent about 10 years on [h]old with you guys."

More foreign companies are finding that hiring Americans offers distinct advantages, reports Fortune's Jia Lynn Yang.

(Fortune Magazine) -- It would be easy to imagine Reno, Ohio, as the type of place that would be hit hardest by outsourcing - a small American town losing out to the invisible hand shifting jobs to places like Bangalore and Guangzhou. Instead, outsourcing is bringing the jobs to Reno. Across the street from an Army Reserve center and next to a farm, a customer-service call center hums, its 250 workers answering phones for online travel agency Expedia. The center's owner? Indian conglomerate Tata Group.

Gateway apparently no better than Dell. :slappy:

I’ve been at the Gateway to Hell.

At the risk of exposing my naivet?, I confess that I’ve been completely blindsided by the ineptness of Gateway's technical support over the past year.

After conducting a modest amount of research last fall, which included reading trade pubs, checking vendor Web sites and talking to colleagues, I pulled the trigger and purchased a Gateway GT 5220 desktop through Circuit City. The Windows XP system -- boasting a dual-core AMD processor, 1GB of memory, 250GB of storage and a 17-inch, flat-screen monitor -- set me back $750. It wasn’t the top-of-the-line model, but I didn’t think I’d completely cheaped out either on this Vista-upgradeable desktop.

I have found that i AM better off if I just build my own computer from a local store or just buy a barebones and upgrade it depending on my need. That way the local store will support it better than and large company, and besides they all speak english very well. :tongue2:
If all I want is to surf the net then I get the barebones and if I want more power then I buy the compnoents from them and build it myself.

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Dell Inc. deceived customers in a massive "bait and switch" scheme to increase sales of its computer and electronic products, a New York state judge ruled Tuesday.

State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo sued Dell in 2007 on behalf of hundreds of customers who claimed that the electronics company lured them into buying products with promises of attractive deals and promotions.

In reality, the lawsuit alleged, most customers were denied or misled into believing that they had been approved for low interest or financing rates.

The lawsuit also accused Dell of depriving customers of technical support that they were entitled to, in some instances, by pressuring them into performing repairs on their own or subjecting them to long wait times on the phone. Video Watch Cuomo detail the complaints ?

In a 26-page decision, Supreme Court Justice Joseph C. Teresi found in favor of the consumers...
