Lakers vs Celtics Championship?

antosu

Senior
If Bynum comes back healthy and playing at 100%, do any of you see an oldschool Lakers vs Celtics Championship happening?

Right before he went down, the Lakers had the best record in the West for a day or so.

Could happen!

Would be a rating killer, I really like the Lakers team with Bynum.... But, I don't know about 7 game series vs. Spurs, Mavs or Suns.

The C's are the most top heavy talented team. I see them winning the East.... Piston's are so f'ing inconsistent, the Magic are just on the verge and that's about all there is to challange.

If Bynum is healthy it's a serious possibility. It's pretty much a crap-shoot in the west between the Spurs, Suns and Lakers if our center get's back, I realize the Mavs have a great record, but I still think they are soft and have yet to really prove me otherwise.

NOt sure how you can leave the Cavs out of those teams that can challenge...

Considering the fact that we beat the Lakers? Yeah I see us as a challange. But then again the NO Hornets are also very good this season.

They beat the Lakers without Bynum and they just lost to the Sonics if you think that way. Cavs are no threat in the East...sorry guys. 1-3 vs. Boston, Orlando and Detroit. Maybe if they get Kidd things could change.

They lost to the Sonics without the best player in the league.

You're always a threat when you have the best player on the floor. The Cavs have been playing good ball lately, and if not for some poor second half defense against Phoenix, would have gone 3-0 against the Suns, Lakers, and Blazers in a three-game stretch.

I'm not saying the Cavs are the favorite. But they're always going to be a threat because LBJ can take over any game and has proven that he can take over a series. (See Pistons last year).

Never count out LeBron. Put him on the Knicks and they'd be a threat. Okay, maybe too far...

With the trade for Pau Gasol, the Lakers have become infinitely better. Just last year, people were complaining about how Kobe did not have a sidekick. Well, now he has 3.

Andrew Bynum was already playing at an incredibly high level before he got injured. Averaging a double-double per game, he gave a presence down low that the Lakers had not had since Shaq.

And now, they go out and get another big guy down low in Pau Gasol? Jeez. Until yesterday, almost no one had ever heard of Pau Gasol. Why? He was stuck in Vancouver, and then stuck in Memphis. The reality of the matter is that he is in his 7th year, and has averaged 18.8 points and 8.6 rebounds per game over his career.

The Lakers just got a lot bigger. 6'10 Lamar Odom, 7'0 Pau Gasol, and 7'0 Andrew Bynum is a frightening combination. Oh, and by the way, their shooting guard is Kobe Bryant.

The Lakers are very interesting, to say the least.

They have the best 3 down low and with Kobe. That could be special. Celtic/laker days are back. I love Gasol and he has double help down low . I really like to see how other teams play defense against 4 players that could average at least 20 together

The most interesting part about this Laker team is the fact that they don't have too much superstar in them to make it impossible for the team to win. The Bryant/O'Neal/Payton/Malone combination had 4 guys that each wanted the ball.

Gasol wasn't the highest scorer on his team. Odom knows he is a role player. Bynum knows what his job is. They won't have any problem giving Kobe all the shots he wants.

One thing I haven't mentioned yet is the PG depth. Derek Fisher is a seasoned veteran from the Championship teams. Throw in a 2nd year Jordan Farmar? Jeez. There isn't much of a drop.
