So your saying stay away from OSU because no top 10 kid would want to choose them. So stay down south is what your telling me. OSU really only appeal to midwest kids, it that right.
It seems to me that faith is low around here for most people. I hope OSU coaches have a lil more fight.

Put it like this, if LJ chooses before signing day, I like our chances much better. As is well documented in this thread, JT just never usually lands big OOS talent on signing day. Some coaches are aggressive and trash OSU more the closer it gets to signing day and most of the time, it works (southern coaches especially). JT will never say anything negative about another school and sometimes I think it just makes it easier for a kid to say no to us than the more aggressive coaches. Just my theory. Plus it's not easy getting top 10 type guys out of their home state, generally speaking. Also, we just don't do well on signing day, so people aren't doubting LJ's interest (it's obviously legit at this point), but we as OSU fans just don't get our hopes up the longer it goes with an OOS guy, especially when the OOS recruit is going to be recruited as heavily as LJ is. Trust me, true OSU fans want to have LJ here bad.

First things first, what a great story about Lamarcus.

In addition to the excellent reasons that other BP posters may have offered, I also think that due to the fact that we got "singed" ( I can't really say we were burned) in the recruitment of the last two top CB out of South Florida has made us a little gun shy.

In 2008, Brandon Harris out of Booker T Washington in Miami had a late flirtation with OSU. There was enough to the story that respected insiders at other OSU sites reported that they would not be "surprised" if Harris were a Buckeye. In the end he signed with Miami and in the cool light of the day after NLOI signing day, it appeared more likely that this late flirtation was just a head fake to keep people quessing.

Then last year, Brandon McGee from Plantation in Broward, was very high on OSU in the spring but we seemed to fade from view in summer and he also chose Miami.

As we go forward, I am sure you will see more Buckeye believers. Of course I believe because LJ's first name is not Brandon.

Harris (and his BTW buddies Collier and Johnson)was going to Miami from day 1 of the recruiting process. I don't know who these respected insiders were and wish I had joined BP earlier, but some young guys down here were destined to go to Miami, and all of those NW and BTW guys were going exactly there. A lot of those kids grew up playing Pop Warner football together and wanted to play together. I think sometimes there's a lot of hype from some of these online scouting places. Wasn't there one guy from Scout or somewhere who swore Berry was going to Florida?

The only one I remotely thought was a possibility was now Miami WR Kendall Tompkins, who came out of Northwestern, and who was seriously flirting with Nebraska. McGee was a little more in doubt as far as where he was going to go and it took some serious recruiting from Miami to get him to go there.

However, I go back to my earlier comment that a lot of kids, not all, down here do not automatically have the big 3 schools in this state on their list just because they are in the Miami area.

I'd say give LJ the benefit of the doubt, he's certainly been a lot more open about this recruiting process than many of the young men who come out of high school out here.

I think you hit the nail right on the head.

I may be crazy but I love the snow/cold.

I lived in North Carolina for about a year and a half, and while I enjoyed the weather, there was something missing.

I just love the change of season in general, and I wish people would give it a chance.

Yup, life in Pittsburgh is pretty rough
Buffalo too
Minneapolis is no place to choose either...
Poor Malcolm could end up in Title Town or Cleveland soon...

Even the domed folk have to play games in the Foxboro's of the world, as Peyton learned for years.

At least Chad Jackson will have those years in Gainesville to keep his thoughts warm on the cold New England bench :p

He got cut by NE...

Denver picked him up off waivers and I think he got cut again

I often wonder why I hadn't gone to a warm climate school, like Florida, which was considered. Also thought about a couple smaller schools in lower South Carolina. The weather was certainly a factor.

I made the right choice, despite this weather. There are so many other factors that should be taken into consideration. At a certain point I realized that weather was insignificant.

If Lamarcus is willing to give us a fair shot (which he is), I'd say he's looking at more important things.

/speculation

EDIT: Often wonder makes it sound like I regret my decision sometimes.. but I never have.

How's the thesis coming along? :p

Finished it and the dissertation a long time ago.

As numbers said, above, there are lots of items that factor into a decision on where to attend college. As long as Lamarcus takes his time, researches thoroughly, and has a good support system, he'll make a good choice-- no matter what it is. He seem off to a good start.

Kidding aside, the combination of an outstanding education at a prestigious university while playing for one of the outstanding coaches and experiencing one of the most exiting game day atmospheres in all of college football would make tOSU very high on anyone's list.
