LB Coach James Laurinaitis (2x B1G DPOY, 2006 Nagurski, 2007 Butkus, 2008 Lott, 3x All-American, OSU HOF)

Geez, I love Laurinaitis helping mold these young men. The example, the enthusiasm, the skills. I guess the question in my mind concerns his readiness for this responsibility versus and NFL coach and, if that difference is not in his favor, what do we lose when a Buckeye through and through is told "not yet"?

Agree with the above. He cannot wear all his Nati rings like Saban can/could, but if he took his college/pro trophies, hung them on a chain and wore them like a necklace, that might be as impressive, no? Day's got a dilemma on his hands, what with the limitations on number of coaches allowed. It appears to the outside that he is de facto coach of the LBs, but cannot recruit off campus (he can until the last coaching position is filled), but Day has got to prepare for LJ (the GOAT), retirement, so which position on staff is most critical? Maybe give both positions a half title? Semi-serious suggestion folks. Go Bucks!

IF that is the reason then it deserves to be mocked. Any coaching change not based solely on merit is ridiculous and is not what is best for the program.
What is best for the program is to have at least a few black coaches on staff when trying to recruit young black kids to leave their region for 3 years. Especially with LJ coming to the twilight of his career. It's not like we're turning down Saban to coach the DBs in favor of some guy. Whomever it is will be qualified for the position. It's a factor whether anyone likes it or not.

uh oh......knuck is getting triggered. why isn't there a White History Month, amirite?
Because that's what I am saying....

Hey bro, you sound triggered. We need blacks to recruit blacks and black cops to police blacks.

What a joke lmao. This place copes so hard it's unreal.

If Ohio State starts hiring coaches for race and not who is best to develop the players we will get exactly what we deserve.

Call it whatever you want. I can GAF what color you are: it's about scarlet and grey.

What's best for the kids? Having the best coaches on merit or hiring based on skin color.

At 5am I thought this was a fucking joke but as the day wore on I realized it was real. An alumni who poured his heart and soul into the program will not be allowed to coach here because of his skin color? That makes no sense guys...

Race aside, it’s clear that JL is not, and has never been, a priority hire for Day.
He had an opportunity to hire JL before he went to the Domers, then last year, and again this year. There’s a position open, yet Day is looking around at different people and positions.
