Lebron James (Los Angeles Lakers)

It would just be too weird to see LeBron not in a Cavs uniform.

He can be the GOAT if he stays in Cleveland and wins like 4 championships. If he goes to chicago if he doesnt win 7 then hes not even as good as Jordan, he's not even the best Bull.

To lift the whole city and really the whole state up like he would is something that would go a lot further towards putting him in God-like status in the history of the NBA. I'm saying if he wins here, he doesn't even have to win as many as Jordan did to be considered the GOAT.

So, the Knicks are double-dipping, apparently.

Knicks meet with James' reps for second time | AP | 07/04/2010

This is fun. Now all Cavs Fans get to know how it felt to be Jennifer Aniston as her dream marriage to BPitt took a turn to the nightmarish.

Not painful enough being betrayed by your soulmate, but every time you get near a media source you have to endure a detailed report about where & when you were cheated on, and which dress designer the home-wrecker wore to the assignation.

Maybe it will salve the wound if LeBron & his new partner adopt a busload or two of disadvantaged children--I'm sure he'll be able to afford it.

1st LeBron didn't meet with them.

2nd This is an act of a desperate team that knows it isn't getting LeBron. There was a reason LeBron didn't meet with them and instead his 'agent'

3rd Don't worry bout the Knicks... It is a 3 team race between the Bulls, Nets & Cavs, and I like our chances.

This is correct. I'll add the Knicks asked for the meeting, not LeBron's people. The Knicks felt like they still needed to explain things better because they didn't do a very good job the first time, act of desperation like Piney said.

According to Windhorst's twitter, Lebron was at his camp in Akron today along with CP3. Also there was former Cavs guard Damon Jones, current Cavs Jawad Williams. However, the most intriguing attendee was Christian Eyenga. The Cavs first rounder from last year plays in Europe, which begs the question what is he doing in Akron with Lebron? Maybe Lebron is taking him under his wing like he did JJ Hickson last summer?

If Lebron thinks that Eyenga has a big upside it will make a decision to stay easier. Just the fact that they're hanging out is a great sign.

FWIW, Windhorst via Twitter:

Didn't say Rose was anti-LeBron. But the word is preference was Joe Johnson. They have same agent. That is what multiple people tell me. 35 minutes ago via TweetDeck

At this point, LeBron has tightly closed ranks, only seriously talking about decision with a couple people. Which is why so little info. about 1 hour ago via TweetDeck

Also, can confirm several reports of a rift between Wes Wesley & James camp. Wes was indeed pushing Chicago, I'm told. about 1 hour ago via TweetDeck

He really likes Rose & Noah. But there's lack if shooters on roster. Also it doesn't sound like he's exactly being welcomed by Rose. about 1 hour ago via TweetDeck

The news of a rift between James and Wes - if true - can only be a good thing. Wes's plan was probably "Anywhere But Cleveland".

According to the evening news here in NEO, James had a Nike Camp going on at the University of Akron today. James was not expected to make an appearance, but showed up anyway. According to the reports, he shot around
with the kids and played in some pick up games.

He was not alone, Chris Paul joined him. Akron is becoming quite the summer vacation hot spot. I know this is reserved for the recruiting forum but, IMHO warm up the: :groove::groove::groove::groove::groove::groove:

This is some terrific journalism...

The fact that the talented Stoudemire will be coming to New York to reunite with coach Mike D'Antoni -- he can sign the new contract, believed to be for five years and close to $100 million, as soon as Thursday -- says one of three things:
? James has told the Knicks that he will not accept their offer, sending the message, in effect, to go out and get who you want.
? James has told the Knicks that he is interested in Gotham and likes the idea of teaming up with Stoudemire.
? James has not told the Knicks anything, but they decided to go ahead with Stoudemire anyway.

A lot of these writers and reporters on the NBA FA beat are really showing their asses these past few weeks.

I feel like I have just as much of a clue as most of the NBA writers at this point.

My gut feeling is better than what they're using.

And also.. this is probably one of the most unknown high-profile signings I can remember.

I agree with that, but the gigantic question is IF he can win a title in Cleveland. That team may have peaked for the foreseeable future this past year, and I think he'll need to win more than one there to be GOAT. Stay in Cleveland and not win a title or maybe pull one one out, and you're a great hall of famer; you're Hakeem Olajuawan, but you're not Jordan, Russel or--dare I say it--even Kobe.

The IF comes up in NY also. If he wins in Miami, he wins with someone else's team. Chicago gives him the best chance to win immediately (particularly if Bosh comes along), but will he win 7?

Your last question says it all--it seems he'll only need to win one or two in Cleveland, but that he'll need to win 7 in Chicago, given the supporting cast and the history there.
