Fantastic...

I can see some great things with that, then some annoying ones too (partner being out of place on defense) That said, that raises the bar big time for team play. It also might make DE's waaaaaay overpowered.

Online Franchise is in this year's game. I was wondering if any PS3 users out there would be interested?

Yeah, Madden is looking really good. Almost good enough for me to buy the game for the first time in 5 years.

Online Franchise... puts me over the top.

I will expect the divorce papers from my wife by September.

Okay, so I pre-ordered at Gamestop so I could get the Demo with the 5 minute quarters and Cards vs Steelers. I played most of a complete game last night and came away very impressed.

Bunch of random thoughts:

-The gameplay felt solid. Speed isn't nearly the factor that is was in past games. If anything, I felt Santonio Holmes seemed to be too slow when he was running in space, and he's supposed to have like a 96 SPD rating.

-The pockets that form might be a bit too good. I'd dropp back with Big Ben and it felt like I had too much time. Probably because when playing NCAA it seems that I've got at least one defender in my face before I complete my drop back.

-3D fans are actually much cooler than I thought they would be. At one point, I threw a pick, and after the play they showed a small group of fans in the crowd. One guy was a Steeler fan and he looked upset while a group of Cardinal fans were celebrating around him. Later in the game, they showed another clip of a fat fan and he had his shirt off.

-They showed a bunch of little "fun facts" during the game and the loading parts. Stuff like how many chips were consumed during the last Superbowl, the number of tickets sold to Cardinal fans, the date the Steelers were founded, etc.

-The Demo has Beanie as the starting RB for the Cardinals, while the other guy comes in as the 3rd down back. You cant access any of the roster stuff, or even do personnel subs within the formations. You can select the difficulty of the game you want to play.

-Player detail and animations are crazy good. Big Ben was yelling at the players to start a rally and you could see his mouth actually opening and closing. After a pick, they showed him yelling at a receiver, making it look as though the receiver ran the wrong route or something. Even the coaches look good talking to the players on the sideline.

-Oh, and pregame was very cool. Since it was the Superbowl, they showed the players lined up on the sidelines for the National Anthem, and then they showed the USAF Thunderbirds flyby overhead. Way cool, and totally unexpected in a demo. Makes me wonder what else is included witht the full retail version.

Anyways, I've played much more of the NCAA game the past couple of years, but it might take a serious back seat to Madden this year. As much as I think they've improved NCAA this year, and I really like it, Madden appears to be in another league. Ahh, I'm probably kidding myself. But if I don't play Madden a lot more than NCAA this year, it will be because I prefer NCAA football to the NFL. But if they incorporate more of this type of detail and extras in NCAA, wow, what a game that would be.

Again, these are impressions after one partial demo game, so take them with a large grain of salt. But if anyone is planning on buying Madden anyway, I'd recommend pre-ordering through Gamestop because it's a very solid demo.

That's all fine and dandy, and would be really cool for Online Franchises...but I just can't grind through a franchise with an NFL team as I can with Ohio State in a dynasty. Passion for CFB is always going to put NCAA over Madden for me...its a shame EA doesn't reward me with an equal product from NCAA. Madden has been better for years.

Yeah, but the delta this year seems to be larger than usual. Again, this was one partial game, but it felt like a very different experience. Much more so than years past. We'll have to see how the commentary is though. I was not a fan of Collingsworth in last year's game, so I'll have to see how it is this year.

Too bad the online franchise was done half-assed not having free agents, contracts and salary caps.

Zona' with two recivers damn near 99 OVR.

...Good luck covering that nightmare.

Cleveland. Vickers with a solid 89 OVR, Lewis and 85 which is servicable.
But good god we may have a worse QB situation than Minnesota.

D'Qwell is an 86OVR, but after that there's a huge drop-off.
Rodgers is a 92 OVR, funny, I thought he'd be higher.

DB's? Not one >= 79. Fantastic, looks like its gonna be a blitz happy package
leading to your secondary getting shredded.
