Marvel Cinematic Universe

So next up was Captain America: Winter Soldier. I have to say I really liked this one. Some excellent storytelling and good acting. Working Black Widow in has been good. Finally Nick Fury is something besides a douche with an attitude problem. And I think the CA arc has been the best of the 5 major characters thus far. Disappointed to see that Arnim Zola is dead, but at least he had a place in another movie. The Bucky thing was OK, but I don’t think they really developed it enough, he was basically just there for the weapons and fight sequences. It got a little ID4 at the end, but the strong acting by the regulars, Redford, and the Falcon all made this a quality movie. Maybe slightly below the first one for me, but a high quality entry nonetheless.

1. Marvel’s Avengers (5/5)
2. Black Panther (5/5)
3. Captain America: The First Avenger (4.5/5)
4. Iron Man (4.5/5)
5. Captain America: Winter Soldier (4.5/5)
6. Guardians of the Galaxy (4/5)
7. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (3.5/5)
8. Thor (3.5/5)
9. Incredible Hulk (3/5)
10. Iron Man III (2.5/5)
11. Iron Man II (2.5/5)
12. Thor: Dark World (2/5)

And then came Avengers: Age of Ultron. I was not a big fan of this one to be honest. This one lacked the quality interaction between the characters that the first one had, it was forced and somewhat trite in the dialogue. The whole Widow/Banner this is kinda meh. And this was a jumbled mess of trying to introduce too many new characters. They would have been fine with the twins or Vision, but they did them both and rushed through Strucker too, along with the whole Ultron concept, which wasn’t fleshed out enough. And Hawkeye has a farmhouse...OK. Just didn’t do a lot for me, felt like the actors were even kind of mailing it in, although I think SJ was probably the strongest. Disappointed in this one, way below the quality of the first one.

I mean I have them all with the same score, so it’s hard to separate them. I’m old school I guess, I liked the origination and character development in the first one. I just really liked the way they introduced the story. WS was very good too, certainly no disrespect to it.

All good.

But I do have my pitch fork sharpened in case I need it when you get to civil war

I think part of the "problem" (term used loosely) is watching them in rapid succession. I have the same problem rewatching GoT to get caught back up. There's no withdrawl between movies/seasons. I was dying to see a Marvel movie again, and Captain Marvel was it. It gets bonus points just for finally quenching my thirst. The post credit scene was worth it. But the movie itself............meh.

Going to take the kid to see captain marvel tomorrow. Really looking forward to it
As the father of a daughter, I was telling my wife I’m happy to live in an age where there are strong women characters and hero’s... I know it might not be the best movie ever but the look on my daughters face at the end was enough to convince me it was one of the best ever....
