Maurice and the Combine (MERGED)

Emmitt Smith ran a 4.7
Oh please, don't even begin comparing this jackass to Emmitt Smith - not as a football player, and sure as hell not as a man.

Maurice Clarett is light-years away from comparisons to Emmitt Smith, who entered the NFL at the same age as Maurice is now. The differences are enormous.

In many cases, players who slip down in teh draft as a result from the combine have been victimized by a stupid system that overemphasizes a small portion of the player.

However in this case, he is a huge question mark, the most harmful player to a school in years, and someone who has not even played 10 colelge football games.

First of all, his 40 yard dash times were extremely poor. He's never been a speedster, but a player with as many red flags as him cannot afford a 4.82 time.

Second of all, quitting the combine shows his true character that has endured despite teh smokescreen of his "changed attitude."

He has wasted his talents more than any player in recent memory. Others have committed crimes, but those weren't quite as intentional of mistakes (tho they were still their screwups). This one he tried to lie to the police, alienated himself from tOSU, challenged the NFL and lost, showed up flabby last year at the combine, used ESPiN to lash out at tOSU, snubbed the senior bowl, and now has failed to even be in peak physical shape in what will be his last shot.

Football is NOT a game of 40-yard sprints. It's not a game of jumping vertically into the air. It's not a game of grabbing an opponent who weighs 225 pounds-falling onto your back-and "pressing" him into the air as many times as you can. You don't run around cones, forwards, backwards, and sideways.

Yes u are right that u can beas big and fast as u want, but if u dont have the skills, you wont be much. But there are reasons they use those tactics in the combines. The "measuremnts" theyuse to fill out ur personal info sheet are to show how hard u have worked in those areas (sincethose are the workous that u NEED to b doing in the gym). If it was based on speed or strength alone than they wouldnt have agility or other types of workouts. I personally think this is a MUST when wanting to choose who u want to lead ur NFL team next season on a million sum dollar contract (out of 30 same positioned players). Clarett just did a number to himself and i looks like he squanderd all the money OSU gave him on a shitty personal trainer. Ok, he could put up 225 pounds, maybe he should be playing on the line, lol :wink2: ...But anywho, Clarett sucked (BIG SHOCKER! lol) and thus makes OSU look even better. Go Bucks!:osu: :gobucks4:

There's no excuse for running a time .2 seconds slower than last year... when he was said to be flabby and out of shape. Regardless of how much he bench pressed and how overrated the combine may be, he screwed up. And he'll have his entire life to think about the mistakes he brought upon himself, one bad decision after another (and they were mostly ones that didn't lead to the others, at least they wouldn't have to if he were anything other than a complete moron).

BTW, Anyone catch the Sports Center clip of him running his 40s? It seem a hell-of-a-lot longer than 4.8/4.7 for him to break that ribbon. And in response to the original, his thighs do look pretty thick along with that wide waist of his.

From SI:

"Taking a back to the drawing board approach, Clarett said he would hold a pro day workout after all, scheduling it for March 8 at Ohio State. On Thursday, Clarett had said he would not conduct a pro day workout, choosing instead to do all his drill work at the combine."

I thought Clarett giving up the rest of the day is really bad, but damn, now not conducting a pro day workout either? Back to the gym for more leg conditioning, speed training and sum slimfast and fiber...
