NYCFC's predictable jersey:

I can't see how making this club Manchester City Jr. is going to be a smart move in the short-to-medium term given the popularity of United, Arsenal, and Chelsea in the States. It's one thing for them to be owned by the Mansour Group, it's another thing to ask an Arsenal fan in New York who would consider supporting NYCFC to walk around wearing that.

If you're into enjoying pageantry and sport, it's worth checking out LA Galaxy vs. Seattle Sounders in Seattle for the MLS Western Conference Championship. ESPN 9:20pm EST.

Galaxy lead 1-0 after the first leg so Seattle has to come out and win. I've mentioned before but the Seattle atmosphere sets the bar for American soccer. Sure to be a good one.

Oh and the last time Dempsey and Donovan will be on the field together as this is Landon's last season.

I see the Crew traded Josh Williams for an "undisclosed allocation".......to a novice follower can someone fill me in on typically what that is, i.e. like a player to be named, a future prospect, etc.?
Both players were traded for an undisclosed amount of allocation money. Teams can use allocation money to sign players new to MLS, "buy-down" a player's salary budget charge and, in some cases, re-sign existing MLS players. Usually, teams receive allocation money for missing the playoffs, being a new team in MLS, or having a prominent player get signed via a transfer fee overseas (ala Giancarlo Gonzalez did this year for the Crew).

Are you sure? It is my understanding they are trying to get bumped up in the transfer line. The rumor is that they want Jozy.

Both were traded for allocation money, not for a change in the allocation order (which I don't believe has been set yet for 2015).

Columbus would be hard pressed to get Jozy. Almost a pipe dream. He would go to a major market. Columbus was instead targeting Mix Diskerud late in the season, which was a much more realistic option (and would have been a great fit, IMO).

Okay. Thanks for clearing that up.

As for Jozy and Mix, they are both pipe dreams imo.

Do you both @Thursby @BuckTwenty follow the Crew? From what I saw, Josh was a pretty solid player - are they eyeing someone up in allocation or do we think it was a substantial amount given? I guess maybe they had plans to not protect him so it was something for nothing for them.

There have been so many trades lately.....who do you see getting added for them?

No I am not a Crew fan. I'm just a fan of the league in general. I hope this doesn't come across as me being an a-hole, but I will be surprised if the Crew are still in Columbus in five years.

a-hole

Just kidding  I thought they were planning on doing some renovations to their stadium that would keep them in town for some time? Maybe that was just a hope and not a plan.

With so many big markets wanting MLS teams now. And with MLS justifiable fear of over expansion. It will be far to tempting to move the Crew into one of those markets. I hope I am wrong.
