Most arrogant fans ever?

Boy I think we all have obnoxious fans. Just some more than others. As an ND fan, some of the worse I've seen in recent years are the Boilers. They are down right crude and rude and overly obnoxious. Several got thrown out of my section at last years game at ND, and at this years ND game at PU they were throwing water bottles and full drink cups every bad play. I actually saw an old guy PU fan sitting around row 10 get hit in the head with a full water bottle thrown from about row 50. He was out cold for a bit. State Troopers actually started filing through the student sections. MSU and scUM have some bad ones too. Some of the nicest fans I've met were from Nebraska and Tenn.

Heard a good one from an ND fan first half of the game when Bobby Carpenter was shown... "Broken leg and he's dressed like he's playing... gee... there's the future of our country. :roll2: "

Wasn't sure what to say, but I did my best impression of the "wtf?" cat.

We did notice towards the end of the game when some of the defensive guys were celebrating on the sideline, Carp had a mouthpiece in. We were cracking up when we saw that.

Kids at a certain expensive Jesuit High School down this way have a cheer that they like to use when they're down a few points, "That's all right, that's OK, You're gonna work for us some day!" Of course that's more arrogant than obnoxious, though the two are known to travel hand-in-hand.

:roll2:Get a clue. That one hasn't been used in years. If you attended any games, you'd find X's student section is much more tame than our opponents these days.

Gone are the days of "Five ten fifteen bucks, we own the company you drive the trucks," "You're from Price Hill, we give you food" and that crap. I'd challenge you to attend all the games next year...I guarantee you won't hear a single cheer along those lines. Unless, of course, you listen to our opponents.

Two years ago, "Schoenhoft Swallows" and "Anal bombers" could be heard clearly across the field when we were beating Moeller by 3 TDs or so. No retaliation. Lasalle students chant "DUI" at Johnny Wolf in basketball..no retaliation from X's student section.

X has changed for the better in terms of cheering over the last 3-4 years.

all big time college programs have annoying fans. People laugh at Grassy and their reaction to the PI call.

The funny thing is that if the same call was made against OSU in that situation, the reaction by us would have been exactly the same.

I don't know about that, their committment to being complete stools and the depth of which they've taken it is quite impressivley obnoxious. I can see OSU's initial reaction being somewhat similar, but I don't know if we'd have let it get to us for years. I can remember visiting Grassy in '04 and still seeing every third thread talking about OSU in some way, shape or form.

Remember, about 90% of those morons actually believed Will Allen cheap shotted McGahee on that play :roll2:

And yet nothing like this happens in Buckeye country?? gimme a break, anywhere you go people talk shit its the nature of the beast
I cannot stand Miami fans, particularly the ones at Grassy.

There are a lot of really bad OSU fans, but just because there are a lot of them.

I live in ND country, and I had to hear it ALL week. "Don't let the cops know the Bucks are in Tempe, they might arrest the first team."
"Brady Quinn is going to throw for 4 TDs and his sister will leave AJ for Samardija."
"Zbikowski is going to destroy Teddy Ginn's chicken legs."

While eating at BW3, I heard the usual comments "Luckeyes suck!" "Suckeye faggot." Being the guy I am though, I just waited for Teddy Ginn to explode on them before I started to say anything. I left the place with the other table of Buckeye fans, and we kept going back and forth "O-H! I-O!"

There is an OSU message board that shall remain nameless where you can find EXACTLY the kind of attitude that is mentioned there.

We do our best not to tolerate that here.

We have our share of teenagers and young adults, and to be completely honest, I was a HORRIBLE fan until I was at least 26 years old. Not all young people are bad of course, there are some that are better than I was at that age. One of the primary problems of message boards is that you cannot see the people that are saying the things that tick you off. I strongly suspect that if people could see each other on message boards, that trollers and baiters (and fishermen of all kinds) would be largely ignored.

I hope you are treated better here than you would be on the other board I mentioned but didn't name.

Personally,I know a lot of scUM fans, and all but one are arrgogant assholes.

The only one that isn't is my friend Devo.I was friends with him before I knew he was a fan of TSUN,and after I found out it didn't really matter. He's the only one I have met that's respectful.

All others can rot in hell.

Safe to say that all schools have arrogant, classless fools that claim to be fans. The larger the school and/or fan base, the larger the number of fools you'll eventually see.

IMHO, to be classified as a fan, one must not only root for your team through good and bad, but realize that fans (in some small way) represent their school with their actions. The heart of this (for me) is a belief that 'fans' want only the best (or what's good) for their school. They desire success at all levels, not just the playing field. That includes the perception (good or bad) the school acquires from the behavior of it's fans. Actions that bring the school into a negative light (even through association) is not 'wanting what's best' for the school. When this happens I can only conclude that the 'fan' only really seeks "what is best for himself". A hightened self-esteem from an association to a team. A bloated ego tied to the performance of athletes the fan doesn't truely 'support'. To me, those are not fans. Those are people that 'feed' off the work of others and give nothing in return.

A fan's pride isn't only attached to the win-loss record. A fan's pride is attached to conduct.
