Mount Union (OH) Purple Raiders (13-time D-III National Champions)

Mount is headed back to the championship game, but just barely. They won their quarterfinal 62-59, then their semifinal 41-40. It seems the defense is not quite up to previous standards, but still, it extends an incredible run of title games.

Their opponent? Wisconsin-Whitewater, of course, 16-15 winners at Mary Hardin-Baylor.

Number 1 offense (Mount) versus number 1 defense (WW). Whitewater draws first blood, 7-0.

I think Whitewater is going to get the better of them, again...but not if they do stuff like that! The dreaded snap over the QB's head.

Mount gets stopped on downs trailing 28-14 in the 3rd. They're going to lose to WW for the 4th straight time unless the Warhawks just give the game away.

Good thing the Raiders took full advantage of WW's down season last year by grabbing another title.

Thirty-two teams qualified for the Division III playoffs, headlined by Wisconsin-Whitewater and Mount Union. The two Midwestern rivals have squared off for the Division III crown in eight of the past nine seasons; Whitewater won last year’s title in a 52-14 decision.

The Division III title, known as the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl, will be played Dec. 19 in Salem, Va., and shown on ESPNU at 7 p.m. ET.

That was a semi-final game.

Going to the title game again, and of course Wisconsin-Whitewater are playing in the other semi-final today.

Jesus, that's not much for parity at that level.

This will be Mount's 10th straight title game appearance. They've won 7 title games since 2000.

Whitewater have played in 8 of the last 9 title games. They are 5-3 in those games. The one year they missed it, Mount beat someone else for the title.

Parity? No chance.
