Do I detect a bit of cynacism? Perhaps a thought that TV money and referrees play a part in the length of the playoffs?

IMO the NBA needs to start over, decide what the rules are and how they're going to be called--consistently. Stop the hand checking, stop the steps and palming the ball and offense and defense will come back to where the game used to be.

A little late so I apologize, but.......

Did anyone else see the biggest flop of ALL-TIME last night?

As Luke Walton idiotically wenr for a steal on Paul Pierce, he stumbled at Paul's feet.

Do you think Paul saw an opportunity to draw a foul call? You fucking bet he did!!!! Paul literally jumped over and landed on his side as if Luke had tripped him.

Paul Pierce might be broke after next year once the implement fines.

And why don't the officials see this shit?

Go Boston in game 6. Get Kobe outta here.

I can't believe you'd criticize the refs on a play where Pierce slid about a foot on his side and half rolled over before passing to Posey for a 3 in the corner. You can't travel without your feet touching the floor, right? :tongue2:

Actually, that isn't the play I'm talking about. It was just across half-court and Luke Walton was too aggressive and fell over. Paul Pierce then decides since he didn't get the initial call, he'll just act as if Luke tripped him up. He literally dives on top of Luke and gets the call....Biggest flopper in the league.

BOSTON -- The Celtics expect Ray Allen to play when they try for a second time to win the NBA championship.
Kendrick Perkins? Now that's a different story.
Allen rushed from Staples Center after the Los Angeles Lakers' 103-98 win Sunday night that forced a sixth game Tuesday night in Boston. The reason: his son was hospitalized in the Los Angeles area after feeling ill.

Perkins watched Game 5 from the bench with a shoulder injury. His availability for Game 6 will be a game-time decision.
Allen's toddler son, Walker, underwent medical tests Sunday and Monday, and Allen was still at the hospital when the rest of the Celtics arrived in Boston at about 10:30 p.m. ET Monday, team spokesman Jeff Twiss told The Associated Press.

I keep seeing in these highlight packages from game 5 a huge inconsistency in a call around the hoop.

There is a play where Pierce drives and bangs into Gasol. Gasol has his hands straight up but sort of jumps. A defender is allowed a vertical plane and Dick Baveta in the background acknowledges this as he signals that Gasol went straight up.

Then the next highlight shows Pierce driving and banging into Mihm. Mihm does the exact same thing, goes up straight. The only difference this time? A different referee in the background. He calls a foul.

Just something that's been bothering me since I keep seeing the same highlights.

Mihm was moving sideways just before he went up, and may have been still drifting sideways in the air, which would make it a legit foul.

I thought Lamar Odom was the MVP of game 5. As much as Lakers fans and others have dogged him (sometimes deservedly) in this series, he made a huge difference for his team on Sunday. They'll need that kind of performance and then some in order to win tonight.

On the Celtics side, I think Garnett needs to play big tonight. He really disappeared late in the game on Sunday and then when he did make plays to draw fouls he couldn't convert at the line. The Celts will need more from KG to win tonight. Much more.
