NCAA 08 Game Impressions

I just found a thread with more info about editing players during dynasty and such (*note: You might need to register at the site to read their forums.):

Yes you can edit any player on your team in Dynasty mode, including their equipment. I've seen a lot of confusion on this subject so I just now tried and it will let you edit anything about your players in Dynasty.

More info on my simulated season - Simulating an entire season takes 8-10 minutes on the 360 FYI.

And for you Buckeye fans - we finished with a 10-3 record and #13 in the nation. We lost 41-24 to PSU and 20-17 to scUM. We beat Wisconsin 56-7 LOL. Guess who we play in our bowl game? #14 Florida, LOL!! Outback bowl.
Of course we lost 44-7. After we lose we drop to #18.

Hawai'i went undefeated at 12-0. They finished #4 in the nation. The headline on ESPN is "DARK HORSE - Brennan has led Hawai'i to a surprising finish" However they lose their bowl game 37-14 to UCLA and finish 7th overall.

The #1 and #2 teams in the nation are _ichigan (12-0) and LSU (11-1). But then when all is said and done it's FSU and _ichigan playing for the national title, noT LSU. That national champion ends up being Florida State beating scUM 27-17.

Heisman Winner is Colt Brennan with 1683 votes and his stats are 313-504 3998 yards, 32 car 74 yards 44 TDs, others in order of finish HB LSU , McCoy outta Texas, HB FSU, Mike Hart

Also, I got new guys on my team, my newest freshman and YES I can edit anything about them just fine unlike in NCAA 2007.

you know what, i didn't pay enough attention to your question, you can edit their height, weight, name, equipment, etc etc but not change their attributes
So it looks as though everything can be edited in dynasty mode except for attributes. I am very happy about this.

Yeah, those are the forums I was referencing as well. So all seems cool on the editing front. (But I believe on the next gen you can't edit class)

I am still on the fence. PS2? PS3? 360? I think I am going to say screw it and get the PS3. I haven't heard horrible things for NCAA on it yet from all I have read. The only problem is it doesn't run at 60fps like the 360 does.... oooo, big difference. Something I can live with definately.

Of course the real reason is because GTAIV is coming out soon and I know I will need a PS3 or 360 for that sucker.

Equipment edit is good so far, besides no eye black, which is a bit of a bummer. I think the players look much meaner with it on...also, you can't edit class (as previously mentioned), which is a bit of a bummer as well.

Yeah, it looks as though the PS3 may not be such a bad choice now that they dropped the price, and the reviews seem pretty good.

Also, the 360 will require a bit of a work around this year (albeit a minor one) to get the named rosters, but it seems as though it will be much easier to get them for the PS3... it's just that the PS3 rosters aren't likely to be out until a few days later than the ones for the 360.

I don't think you can really go wrong picking either system (PS3 or 360) at this point.

That is the conclusion I came up with. And I don't mind the wait for the rosters since I probable won't be getting the game til Friday anyway. Dang married life slowing down my gaming obsession

They weren't there last year, were they? My favorite was in Madden 07 where you could choose three types of visor, except they were too lazy to add 3 types, so all three were black.

late year i had it for just plain Xbox and I know they had clear and black visors.

So has anyone got a hang of recruiting yet? I'm basically just going through trying to figure it out myself. If anyone has any tips on doing it better.....let us know!

I gotta say that I'm a little disappointed with my PS2 version. Not much has changed since NCAA 2007. Recruiting is the same, campus legend is the same, week-to-week play is the same.

It does have some new game mode, though. Something like a "points game." Points are given out for doing stuff (big plays, big hits, etc.) rather than for touchdowns and field goals. I played long enough to get through the coin toss and then I decided to play real football.

Also, before the season starts, you go through some summer workouts. It's a good way to improve the stats of individual players. The problem is that I got bored with it about half way through.

I kicked YSU's ass pretty good (on one of the easier levels), and I was thinking that it was because YSU isn't very good compared to Ohio State. But then Akron was a lot tougher than I felt they should have been. I ended up winning 37-0, but they got to Boeckman more than I thought they should. The first explanation, which is a realistic one, is that I'm not any good. The second is that the blocking has gotten worse since 2007. Since I got to where I felt I was pretty good (against the computer, anyway) at 2007, I think the second explanation might be more correct.

Umm.. can't think of anything else right now.

It sounds like you need to work on your priorities.

Yeah, PS2 and Xbox have had them for a while (even an orange one maybe?). The 360 has only had tinted so far.

Ok, this is what I've been able to come up with so far. After locating your top recruits, find out what their 3 main areas of interest are (1 most, and 2 very highs). Then give them hard sells on those interest points and keep the little face in the corner happy. Don't talk to them too long or they'll get pissed and hang up on you.

Once your school is in their top 5, you can schedule them to visit a home game. The help scroll on the bottom says that you can do it when they are in your top 3. I tried a lot of visits last night with people in my top 5, and they never committed. I tried a few in the top 3 and they didn't either.

The only commit I've received so far was from a 5 star RB that I didn't remember ever putting on my recruiting board. I think I was his number one team, I called to find his 3 likes, and then I offered him a scholly. He then committed to me on the spot. I still don't really know what I did too land him, other than he must have just been really wanting an offer.

Also, it seems as though you can offer anyone a scholly that's on your board.
