on the last version of this game i used the juke move alot. but there were two ways to juke defenders. if you press the juke button firmly the runner will jump to the right or left. if you softly press the juke button he will sort of glide to the right or left. the soft juke is much more efffective when running and i cant seem to find a way to do that in the new game. any help?
The right analog stick now handles the jukes. Pushing left or right will cause the player to juke in that respective direction. The harder/faster you push to the side, the bigger the juke will be. They also added a back juke this year, where pulling back on that stick will cause the player to pull back . Pressing forward on the stick lowers the runners head.

I really wish they'd let you choose your playmakers at the beginning of the season. I have been simulating thru seasons a lot, b/c I enjoy the recruiting process (while playing 1-3 games a year)... and only once did I get a playmaker at HB.

It made my two OLB's my impact players, and yet they spent an entire first half not in the zone, and only once or twice in the second half. I really could have used a playmaker RB or WR.

On a sidenote, the option game is far to easy to run, with how remarkably easy it is to juke. I think they made a good change, but need to cut down on how often the defenders totally get burned (like when you start juking 3 feet from them).

The fumble glitch happened to me again. I have taken fumbles back all the way, including with my big man on a 2 pt conversion.

The animations continue to impress me. I love the mid air collisions, and the complex tackling animations and such.

I also love the button tap to win a head to head struggle when being tackled. A great call by EA, very nostalgic, and will make it fun for head to head matchups.

Only thing that bugs me is that even my best WRs will let passes bounce of their head when I throw a bullet down field to them (while they are sprinting on a fly route). Now my QB's 98 THP might have something to do with that , but it happens a little too often. Overall I love the way they've revamped the passing game.

What's the point of the impact players? They got some white dot underneath, but so what? Are their stats any better when they're "in the zone?"

I think the game is great. I like the fancy tackle-breaking features. But the button switch is going to take some time to get used to. First, there is no "X" receiver (PS2). The receivers used to be Square, Circle, X, L1 and L2. Triangle threw the ball away. Now, X is sprint, (you don't have to press L2 to run with the ball), and triangle is a receiver. L2 is now used to throw the ball away. I think that will take me some time to get used to.

The second button switch is going to be worse for me, even though it's something that I think makes sense. Before, X was sprint when you have the ball, and circle was sprint when you're on defense. I think X was change players. It's now reverse on defense - X is sprint and circle is change players. A couple of times I've wanted to sprint, but changed players to the guy who's about to make the tackle and accidentily made him run the wrong way.

That button switch sucks... slowly getting use to it but now and then I get burned with it.

The point of impact players. When they are "in the zone" it is just that. They make some more sensational play, forcing a fumble, interception, breaking tackles, leaping catches... I had AJ Hawk in the zone against VY and after a tipped ball at the line of scrimage the CPU controlled AJ dove for the ball and the screen went slow motion as he caught it and made the interception. This has also happened against me as their LB hits my running back and causes a fumble.

I've played about 12+ games at least, and have yet to see the slow motion "in the zone" camera trick. I know it exists, but how often does it happen to the rest of you?

Oh, and I've played a ton and still can't get used to the button switch. I'll try to run down a passing play with my FS (by attempting to sprint) and I'll accidentally switch to my DB and run him away from teh coverage. grrr

I've seen it maybe 5 times, and I think I've played 9 games. (I have NW and Michigan to go this season.) It's usually when Holmes or Ginn is "In the Zone," and I pass to one of them. If a defender is there to try to tackle him right away, sometimes the slow-motion dealy happens and I break that tackle. But then another defender is there to get the tackle, anyway.

Yeah. It's something that I couldn't understand before. Why shouldn't the same button be sprint regardless of whether you're on offense or defense? I'll get used to it, I think. It's going to be hard to get used to juking, though. I keep pressing R1 and L1.

Anyone need a copy of NCAA 2006?

I preordered it a long time ago from EA, but then checked all of my email accounts and couldn't find any record of having done so... so I assumed that I had probably failed to click confirm order or whatever.

I'll be in Columbus this weekend if anyone wanted to pick up a copy. Oh, and I could probably work on my cover design and have it finished by this weekend too... so you could have.

On a sidenote,
We should buy one copy of the roster file per system, and then make the modifications for OSU (and maybe Big Ten and other key opponents, like Texas)... then one person puts it on a memory card and sells it to the next person, and so on, and so on.

I think it would be a good way to save money, have OSU accurate rosters (like Smith being able to throw harder and starting at QB)...

I could handle the Xbox roster and BN27 could handle the PS2. We could then put it on a memory card and sell it to the next person, and so on.

I have the roster file already...I got it for free. If anyone wants the PS2 Max Drive file, I'll send it to you.

If anyone is interested, I will have the full rosters in the next couple of days, maybe we can come up with a way for everyone to get it for free....

Also, someone on this thread complained about the music in the menus, if you go into audio settings you can change the music to college band music....

Alright, I have simulated the next 3 seasons (except the annual Michigan game which I play, and damn is Hart good at RB).

Here are the very interesting results...

2005
1 loss to Penn St.
National Championship with win over USC
Zwick wins the Heisman (I am not joking, and I didn't put high passing on coach options...Holmes and Ginn made him great) along with QB of the year and Maxwell
Ginn wins returner of the year
Mangold wins best lineman
Hamby wins TE of the year
Everett wins the Thorpe
I win coach of the year
Finally, Trappaso wins punter of the year
Hawk was in line to win a bunch until he got hurt for the rest of the season with 4 games to play.

2006
1 loss to Minnesota
End up #5 in the nation
Troy Smith ends up #3 in the Heisman voting (Zwick left for the pros)
Freshman kicker wins the Groza

2007
Undefeated with Sugar Bowl win over Miami
Pittman wins the Heisman and Walker (rated 97!)
Gonzo wins best WR (Ginn was hurt for the year...too bad he stayed for his senior year)
I win coach of the year

Interesting turnout for simulating games. 2007 may be due to my kick ass recruiting classes, but the first 2 years are interesting.

Oh yeah, one more. Michigan offered me their coaching position after 2007. Yeah right!

I simulated a year, two losses, one to Northwestern, another in the Fiesta Bowl to UCLA. The #1 and #2 teams in the BCS played in the SEC title game. A 2-loss Pitt beat LSU for the championship.

Mangold won Rimington, Hawk won the best defensive player (forgot the award name), the whole OL was All-Big Ten, O'Neal was All-Freshman.
