NCAA Coaches: Bribing Players

Auburn's Bruce Pearl tells his players not to worry about report he could be fired

Pearl downplays speculation he could lose his job if doesn't cooperate in AU's investigation.

Following the FBI's findings becoming public knowledge, Auburn officials also hired a law firm to conduct an internal investigation into the men's basketball program, which Pearl has reportedly been unwilling to participate in. And while Pearl wasn't implicated in the case, his refusal to cooperate, according to ESPN, could lead to his potential ouster. A decision regarding his future at the helm of the program could reportedly be determined within the next week or two.

In the meantime, Auburn continues to hold out Danjel Purifoy and its best player, Austin Wiley, in an attempt to "avoid any potential eligibility issues." Pearl told ESPN that Auburn is involved in an ongoing investigation to certify the eligibility of the players, but at this time both remain out indefinitely.

I'll go out on a limb here and say that either refusing to cooperate with and/or lying to the investigators are grounds for dismissal.
Once a scumbag, always a scumbag. When he was hired, I said 3-4 years tops before he was busted for something. Well...

Please take down Krzyzewski. Please take down Krzyzewski. Please take down Krzyzewski.
I don't think you have to beg. You simply do not get the number of semi-pro 1 & dones like he has without getting your program dirty.

I think K, Cal, all the top adidas schools should be hammered in the end. The B1G I would for the most part be surprised to see involved other than Minnesota and perhaps IU.

I'm sure he's guilty and I realize that this is on a different level with the FBI involved, but considering the SEC exists I would need multiple sources of visual confirmation before I believe Duke and that rat-faced fuck are getting hammered for dirty recruiting.

I think people are kidding themselves if they think you can say "{These schools or this conference} is probably going to be safe". I like to think what drove Matta away was his unwillingness to do what was needed to keep up with the rest of the CBB world......but I also watched him pull in Cook, Conley, and Oden. I'm not stupid enough to think Carmelo Anthony thought it would be neat to spend a winter in upstate New York before heading off to make millions just because he likes the color orange.

I see a lot of fans from all kinds of schools saying things like "we suck....we must not be paying players". Yeah.....no....that's not how it works. These kids are taking money everywhere. I want it all out in the open, but we're probably only going to get a small fraction of it.

And K pulls more from the Chicago Public League than anyone except Calipari. That's always been a red flag for me regarding Duke. I'm sure there's a future lotto pick coming out of the CPL that comes from a good family and wants to get an education, but they are few and far between. CPL is pretty much a cesspool of coaches, street agents and "uncles" selling their kids to the highest bidder.

There was a specific implication of half of the top 16 from the first seed show. Obviously Auburn and Arizona have already been involved publicly, and I would expect Duke, Kansas and probably UNC to be involved as well, possibly Villanova. The rest of those programs havent been getting many top recruits lately. The SEC might end up with a year where like 2 teams are eligible for the postseason a couple years from now.

I like Jay Wright at Villanova. Would be surprised but then again, not really.
