NCAA Coaches: Bribing Players

I like Jay Wright at Villanova. Would be surprised but then again, not really.
I don't think they are going to top the list of cheats but it only takes a couple guys to make a difference. I know people here love Izzo, but MSU playing dirty wouldn't shock me. Izzo has been reprimanded for recruiting rules violations, he gets some elite recruits, and he has publicly complained about how dirty the sport is - that is what I expect a cheater to do, complain about how others are cheating.

If the NCAA has any integrity, they should give every single one of these schools the death penalty for a year if they have evidence that the school was actively participating in these carefully orchestrated, systematic payoffs to land players, otherwise they are showing they do not care about the playing field being even in college basketball and not really doing anything that would deter more cheating. This scandal may become big enough that if enough schools are punished properly, it could bring huge changes to the NCAA as a whole. A lot of people wont stand for a season when only 4 teams are playing in the SEC.

It should be mentioned, there are going to be more than just ASM clients mixed up in this. For everybody they eventually signed, they probably paid another 2/3rds TRYING to sign them. If you've got first rounders from the last 3 years who are ASM clients.......yeah. Be super concerned at that point.

D'Angelo Russell is repped by CAA. Probably safe for the time being.

What is concerning for me is the combination of the father and the Louisville ties. Just saying, after D'Russ signed with the Lakers and Nike, dad promptly went out, bought a Maserati, then got popped for driving with codeine and weed in the car. Not that that is evidence of anything aside from poor decision making, but then that's kind of my point.

I'm not implying there was necessarily anything shady about the D'Angelo/Thad relationship, but mom & dad? Just saying ... that Montverde Academy tuition couldn't have been cheap, and his AAU Louisville Magic squad has big-time backing from Adidas.

The parents of the cities biggest can't-miss prospect since Rajon Rondo (and this was said of his as a HS sophomore) certainly were offered inducements at some point. The question is whether they took them.

Do not the majority of the students who attend this Academy get some form of "financial assistance". I just cannot imagine that most of the parents of any student who attends that Academy has the funds to pay for tuition, board, etc.

Since Russell came to Ohio State I would be very surprised if he received any money because the money was probably intended for him if he went to Louisville. If in fact, his parents or him did receive money. What makes me wonder if this did happen under other circumstances, I wonder if a player who took money intended for him to go to one school but he does go to another school why would the second school be punished if they did not know what was going on.
