NFL Discussion (Official Thread)

These QB moves by the Colts, first Rivers and now Wentz seem odd with Brisset sitting there. I think the Colts were better off with him at the helm then the ghost of Rivers. I’m not sure Wentz is that much of an upgrade either.

Cam and Stafford were hits but most of the rest of those guys had a lot more bad years than good. Luck and Tannehill both deserved to go first round also.
Cam was the only one of the these guys that took their franchise to the Super Bowl. In my opinion that’s what a 1st round QB draft choice does to be considered successful.

A lot of Stafford’s stats came from playing catch-up when the Lions were behind. Luck was good but I don’t think he will be mentioned amongst the elite QBs. Perhaps had he kept playing and took the team to a SB. Tannehill still could pull it out but he’s not the guy who’s going to put the team on his back and win it for you.

Luck had the misfortune of playing behind some really bad OLs and never had a lot of help at the skill positions...at least not like Peyton did (Edgerrin, Wayne, Harrison). T.Y. Hilton was a good, not great receiver. Other than that it was kind of a revolving door. I wonder how much being a tackling dummy hurt his overall play. He was definitely very good, but didn't approach the hype he entered the NFL with.

Goff was in that group, I didn't mention him because he hasn't played very well lately, but he did lead his team to the Super Bowl. Does that make Goff a "hit" in your book?

Time will tell with Goff. I will be curious to see if Stafford can lead LA further than Goff did. He had some talent around him at times in Detroit and couldn’t get it done.

Certainly getting your team to/winning a SB and going deep in the playoffs on a yearly basis is going to be the the criteria for the QB.
Especially, when drafted that high. Is Rivers a ‘hit’ in your book?
