My buddy just told me "ESPN said they had the story before the MNC but didn't want to run it until after they talked to Te'o"

I call bull[Mark May] and honestly when was the last time ESPN "talked" to someone before running the story true or false.

Considering the story had been out for 2 hours before they even ran a story, it's total bullshit.

Why do you feel the need to post the part in bold?

Because I don't want people to look at my post as if I'm bashing that lifestyle. I just don't personally agree with it - but bashing it, in my opinion, is small of a person. But that doesn't mean I'm not entitled to come up with a theoritical opinion on the subject.

Hell, I smoke turkey, chicken, and beef. Nobody beats me up for doing it.

Let me put it this way:

I'm trying to get people to understand that while I don't agree with the lifestyle, I also believe everybody is entitled to live their lives without being harassed because of the choices they've made. If Te'o is indeed a homosexual, he should be able to freely admit that openly without concern of reprecussion from his teammates. But the fact that he goes to Notre Dame (and you have to admit that the Catholic Church as a whole has had problems shaking this particular image) doesn't help it if he is indeed a homosexual.

Lets say, in theory, he does come out. Should it have to come to him having to lie about all of this to cover it up?

More of an editoral on society, I guess...

Fair enough, I guess I just think that anytime someone feels the need to issue a disclaimer before their opinion, it causes more suspicion than would normally be warranted. Kind of like "I'm no racist, but..." I didn't think that your post could be construed as gay bashing, anyway.

If it helps you feel better.....
As an African-American, I get the, "I'm not trying to sound racist, but..." crap all the time, LOLZ. Especially as the only African-American in my office.

I just think that since Notre Dame was complicit in this (seeing as how they knew about it last month), then that's the LAST thing they want. It just smacks of what people say about big time sports and the monies involved.

Think of it this way - what happens if this breaks BEFORE Alabama's scrimmage? Bammer fans would be all over it. People that poison trees.

And while Te'o is a grown man - he's still a very YOUNG grown man, who is still finding his way through life.

THIS JUST IN:

I'm listening to SiriusXM online, and I heard these two gems:

During the SiriusXM Sports update:
"Michigan State Abuses Penn State, 81-72." (no lie )

From a Penn State Grad and Cultist:
"They need to come clean about this."

In 2012 I don't understand why such an elaborate cover-up ..1960 to 2010 I understand..but today the cover up is monumentally worst than the truth.Whatever the truth is.

Football player at Notre Dame. Big, bad manly MLB at NOTRE FREAKING DAME!.... right or wrong, it's not the kind of image that'd be accepted or welcomed by his teammates or coaches or administrators.

Don't fool yourself, if he is in fact concealing his sexual preference with this lie, he isn't the first, nor the last ND football player who was secretly gay.

But this would speak to something BEYOND Notre Dame....

Why, in 2013, should a football player have to cover up his sexual preference?

Let me put it like this - if I am a coach, looking at film of two linebackers, and I see one hits better, is more aggresive than the other, I"m picking him regardless of if he is gay or not.

I served in the military in the time when we had "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."
Still knew guys that I served with that were gay. Hell, one guy was openly gay. They were damn good soldiers, and I put my life in their hands just the same as another guy.

Agreed 100%.

In fact, if this is the case and it comes out that any of ND's coaches or administrators were involved in the lie/cover up, it will set back ND's image decades, as far as sexual diversity and acceptance. The stigma, right or wrong, will be that ND only truly accepts strictly heterosexual individuals.

Much the same way that Penn State chose to bury their heads in the sand when they had a chance to take a stand against child molestation and now the entire university has the Ped State stigma attached to it.

My point exactly Gay is mainstream..and accepted .so why the lie..maybe sexual preference has nothing to do with it so WHY? Manti your turn?
