Notre Dame (football only discussion)

Notre Dame football has parted ways wide receivers coach Del Alexander, Tom Loy of 247Sports affiliate Irish Illustrated reported. Alexander had coached at Notre Dame since the 2017 season and has previously held assistant roles at Arizona State, Wisconsin, Oregon State and UNLV. In addition, Alexander worked as a graduate assistant at USC in the late 1990s and was on staff with the San Diego Chargers in 1999.

Alexander is a native of Los Angeles who spent most of his career on the West Coast before Notre Dame hired him after the 2016 season. He notably served as the primary recruiter for Notre Dame freshman wide receiver Lorenzo Styles, a four-star prospect in the 2021 class out of Pickerington (Ohio) Central who ranked third on the team with 688 yards receiving on 48 catches to go with two touchdowns this season. Styles gashed Oklahoma State with eight receptions for 136 yards and one score in the Fiesta Bowl on Saturday and could take over as Notre Dame's top receiver in 2022 with Kevin Austin expected to enter the NFL Draft, per Loy.

New Fighting Irish head coach Marcus Freeman has had a few hires to make after former coach Brian Kelly left for LSU; on Monday, Loy reported that Freeman is expected to bring in Cincinnati special teams coordinator Brian Mason to fill the same position in South Bend.

Notre Dame is hiring Baylor wide receivers coach Chansi Stuckey for the same role, sources told 247Sports’ IrishIllustrated.com. Stuckey joined Baylor as its wide receivers coach in Jan. 2021 and served with the Bears for one season.

On the recruiting trail, Stuckey helped Baylor land highly ranked wideout prospect Armani Winfield, beating out the likes of Ohio State, Michigan State and Texas to land his signature. The 247Sports Composite ranks the Lewisville (Texas) High School product as the No. 172 prospect nationally, No. 26 wide receiver and No. 31 prospect in the state of Texas.

Stuckey was also the lead recruiter for Rockwall-Heath (TX) High School wide receiver Jordan Nabors, a three-star prospect in the composite rankings.

Just sayin':

1) According to 24/7 Armani Winfield was the #40 WR in the 2022 class and Ohio State signed Kylon Grayes (#5), Caleb Burton (#6), Kaleb Brown (#8) and Kojo Antwi (#15). Did Ohio State really want/need Winfield?

2) Ohio State still has the best WR coach in college football and 2nd place guy (whoever he is) isn't even close.

But once he gets to ND all the 5stars will flock to South Bend, just wait

I suppose it's not a bad hire (since it's for DC, not HC), but I just was not expecting to hear that name back in college football.

We’re going to pecker slap these alter boy fuckers back to the reformation

As it should be

There are not enough rosary beads on earth to atone for the arrogance of their fans in the 80s. There isn’t enough holy water to wash away the memory of the disdain that they were so eager to show toward Ohio State back in the 80s. When the 90s series was announced, every ND fan that any of us knew looked down their nose from atop their high horse and deigned to inform us peasants that we had no business scheduling the likes of them.

All that talk seemed to dry up after those games were played for some odd reason.

I remember a lot of talk about how Ohio State didn't deserve to play them in the Fiesta Bowl after the 2005 season. I seem to remembering hearing about how, even though Ohio State was ranked higher than Notre Dame and Oregon, Ohio State shouldn't have gotten a BCS bowl bid, and Oregon and Notre Dame should have. Maybe Oregon only had 1 loss. Dang - that was a long time ago, now.

I was in Iraq waiting to come back to the States during this game. ND fans had a 10-1 ratio where I was. They started out real mouthy...that quickly ended and they ended up cramming into the smallest tv area to finish the game. I assume the O-H...I-O from the 5 Buckeye fans was too much for them.

You give Charlie Weis a month to prepare...

Decided Schematic advantage

AJ Hawk is nailing Brady Quinn's sister

Outside of SEC Speed I can't easily recall narratives being beaten to fucking death like they were for that game. Best part was only the last one was anything close to being accurate.

Remember when that grotesque piece of shit responded to a question about Tressel's national championships by flashing a hand with his Super Bowl rings and saying something along the lines of "I think my rings trump his." As much (deserved) fun as we've had with Simple Jim or The Apostle Dabo, there has been no bigger piece of shit in college football than that Jabba The Hut looking fraud.
