Official Cleveland Browns Draft Thread

I know we need linemen, but the big OL from Wisconsin just isn't worth the #3 pick IMO.

Noted I've only watched him for one series, but he looks like a bad ass to me. Might not be worth the #3 pick, but that is the biggest need and the Browns need to finally address it. I think the rest off the offense would be fine if they had a good OL. The biggest need on D is a CB and DT, but there are only so many instant impact players in the draft.

Just a Thought

I'm not an NFL fan. I love college football and love my buckeyes. I do not watch the NFL, but if Troy went to the Browns, I must say I would jump on the Browns banwaggon. I personally, would like to see Troy go to the Browns.

1. He's from Cleveland and I think would bring some energy to team and to the fans.

2. He's the best quarterback I've seen at Ohio State and I could care less how tall/short he is and I think he'll be successful in whatever he does because of number 3.

3. Troy has the spirit that is not measurable, he has the intangibles that you need to the impossible possible.

And I read previous posts about the offensive line of the Browns. So here's a thought to consider, (and excuse my ignorance, I'm not familiar with all of the ins and outs of the NFL). Did not Ohio State have problems with their offensive line in 2004 before the game in Iowa? Wasn't Zwick being sacked like a bag of potatoes? But mysteriously, when Troy steps on the field, he has time to throw the ball and lanes to run in. Did the offensive line suddenly change personnel. No, it's because of Troy's leadership and the intangibles that he turned the losing season into a winning one and has had winning seasons ever since.

Browns fans.... you want a winning season????? You want Troy!!!!
:oh: :io:

The only QB I could deal with us drafting is Troy -- and I'd prefer it to be in the 2nd or involve trading down and getting a 2nd 1st round pick.
Quinn folds and lays in the fetus position when his line is supposed to be out-classing the defense -- I'd hate to see how that goes against our line if we draft him. At least Troy is elusive and built, physically and mentally, to take a couple of hits and keep going.

Crennel says height not crucial for QBs

By Sean McClelland
Staff Writer

Wednesday, December 27, 2006

BEREA ? Troy Smith's height alone apparently would not deter the Cleveland Browns from drafting the Ohio State quarterback.

Smith's name wasn't mentioned, but head coach Romeo Crennel implied as much Tuesday when asked a general question about the importance of size at the position. Smith is listed at 6-foot-1, perhaps generously so.

"I've seen a lot of things happen in this game of football," Crennel said. "I'm not one to say a guy's too short, a guy's too tall, a guy's too slow or a guy's too big, too wide or too anything."

Some college quarterbacks work out of the shotgun formation almost exclusively. Crennel sees this as potentially a greater factor in how a prospect develops at the position.

"I think the thing there is, you have to look at their college experience and see how much they were under center and how they operated while they were under center," he said. "That may be a bigger transition, taking the snap and reading (the defense) on the way back as opposed to being in the shotgun."
