Official Cleveland Browns Draft Thread

Cleveland has a good secondary, if healthy. They need line help and RB help. However, you don't pass up a guy like Calvin Johnson if he's available. Just like you don't pass up a Reggie Bush, just because you already have Deuce McAllister. Johnson is a special player, and if he's there, you take him. Regardless of "need".

Baxter and McCutcheon are getting old. Its not a necessity like the lines, but I'd love to sign Nate. If we don't, I think we'll draft another CB like Minter -- hopefully not damaged goods this time.

It's been mentioned more than once by more than one person. The people who like Adrian, like him regardless. I'm skeptical... but Thomas also had a knee operation and didn't thrill most of us against Arkansas.
CJ would be a great pickup, but only if we traded Braylon for some OL/DL help. We don't need another WR right now.
wouldnt mind grabbing cj early, trading braylon for another late 1st, early 2nd pick and seeing whats there

i dont dislike braylon... but the ball dropping makes me sick.. his attitude problems arn't needed and i think braylon is gone regaurdless because of his attitude

Here is a thought for the NT position. Okoye... I'm watching him right now at the Senior Bowl and he is a beast. He also has a great attitude (I believe he is just 19 -- with a degree... think about it)
He's not projected as top-5 (or even top-10) right now, but he's the kind of kid I think we'd all love to have. Thoughts?

I'd love to pick that kid up if he were available around round 2 or 3. At just 19 years of age with that potential, imagine what you'd have when he reaches the age that most players are rookies. Wouldn't be suprised to see him climb the boards and get into the first round though, so I think our chances are slim.

I'm pretty sure he's already pegged for the 1st in the 15-20 range. (based on pure talent)
Considering that DL (esp DT) usually get pushed up the draft order and with what little I've seen of the Sr Bowl practice -- he is climbing up. It'd be hard to sell as a #3 overall right now, but he could show his worth on the field -- like Whitner for the Bills.

okoye is a first rounder for sure, hes a NG in the 3-4. he came into mobile a little light but he should be able to add some weight fairly easily

Considering he is still just 19, he can probably add on some more weight. I didn't check the Sr Bowl numbers, but other sources have him at about 310 -- a little under, but good to build on. He was fun to watch in the practices, beat Mozes pretty good.
I think Okoye is a guy to keep an eye on. Not sure if he's worth 3-4 overall, but he says his goal is to be a top-5 selection (from JWins' article).

If the Browns trade back into the middle to top half of the first this would be a guy to watch out for.

I'll bet you a C-Note that if Johnson is on the board when the browns pick, they do not take him.

Yeah like when they picked Courtney Brown instead of Urlacher or when they get Gerrard Warren instead of the second best running back of all time Ladanian Tomlinson oooo or Tim Couch instead of Donovan McNabb.

McNabb and LT would not have been nearly as successful in Cleveland. The teams they went to were established and had better skill positions to work with. Couch got killed when he was here, the lines he had could not block an old lady with a walker.

No one could have ever predicted what Tomlinson would become. As a chargers fan I was FURIOUS that they traded away Vick for 2 picks and a receiver that was under six-foot. Heh, those two picks were Brees and Tomlinson, don't I feel like a fool :!

Remember tho, the Chargers have done a lot to build around Tomlinson, Marty is all about the run.

yeah because they couldn't get any free agents to come. Especially when the Browns change there coach every 4 years and there offense and defensees indentity about every season. Who wants to come be a part of that. How about that front office!? All the front office is two words. Warm Bodies.
