Game Thread Ohio State 27, Iowa 24 (final, OT, 11/14/09) - Rose Bowl bound!!!

Not to mention the fact that Michigan will probably have a bowl trip on the line. They're going to give us their best game of the season, without a doubt.

There is little question about just how bad UM is. However, they do have some athletes on that team. Not the caliber of OSU, but certainly better than a team like, say, Purdue.

That game wouldn't just send them to a bowl, it would turn their entire season. It would get the monkey off RRs back (although it would still be humping his leg).

It would be a huge upset - something akin to our losing to Purdue or their losing to App St. But shit happens.

And the likelihood it will happen is directly related to how unlikely the favorite believes it will happen.

To be sure Michigan is down, but there is a lesson to be learned here from my 7YO grandson.

After playing his first tackle football game I asked him what he thought he said "It was fun. I knocked a kid down and when he tried to get back up I knocked him down again."

If we deserve to beat Iowa and do, then there is something the Buckeyes need to do before they crown themselves Big Ten champions. It doesn't require the approval from ESPiN. Ohio State don't need anybody's approval except their own. And for that, they need two victories.

The last bloody thing we want to see is Ohio State fans dancing over the Rose Bowl nod and then get big heads and go into Ann Arbor and repeat the Purdue experience.

We want to see our guys go into Ann Arbor and embarrass TSUN. This is about the years when they laughed at Ohio
State and clamied that we were no longer their rivals.

This season is not over. We are not Big Ten champs until we bury TSUN in Ann Arbor, no matter what any rule says.

In coming years, it is possible that Ohio State will lose a game to TSUN, but this is not that year. If that day comes, I want to see their fans taking the field and pulling down the goal posts. I want them to know how special that day is and that it may not be repeated in their lifetimes. I want them to be in awe when Ohio State takes that field.

This team needs to badly want three more wins this year.

Hasn't Jim Tressel always broken the regular season down into three "seasons"?:

  1. Non-conference games
  2. Big Ten games
  3. M*ch*g*n Week
With that approach in mind I think it's fine for the team to focus on winning a Rose Bowl berth THIS WEEK to close out the Big Ten season, and then go out and focus on being champions of the M*ch*g*n Week season the next week.

Why the Fuck are we talking about Michigan in this thread? This is Fucking Iowa week! A trip to the Rose Bowl is on the line. Top Ten team coming to the shoe with the same shit on the line, lets get our fucking minds right!
Fuck Iowa and how they all of the sudden think they are a relevant program. Lets bring these fuckers down to earth and remind them why they shoot for the capital one bowl, while we get the prom queen! :oh:

Seriously, I always get a bad feeling the game before Michigan week because of how anxious we all get for The Game. Look what happened in 2007. Campus was littered with all of this Beat Michigan stuff a week early. I know as well as anybody that we fucking hate those skunk bears but we have to fucking take care of business.
Now this is arguably the biggest game of the season right here. Lets fucking do this shit. Lets get jacked up for Iowa, lets make sure the players know it too. I'm trying to go to Pasadena!!

Yeah well in 2007 the Illinois game wasn't a game that decided who's going to the Rose Bowl.

INFACT, I'd say right now that this game means just as much as the michigan game. Iowa/OSU will never be even close to the type of game "the game" is but this week for a chance to go to the rose bowl it heightens everyone's awareness of this game. I believe because this is such a big game that don't be surprised if we come out a little flat against Michigan (especially if we win against Iowa).

I'd disagree. Iowa is currently 38th in rushing defense while Penn State is 14th...and that's including the 228-yard stampede we put on PSU Saturday. Hell, even Michigan put up 195 yards on the ground against Iowa, at Iowa. Their DL isn't bad, but I'd take Penn State's DL over Iowa's any day.

Penn State and USC were better.

Still have to block well and all that, but talent-wise this will be the 3rd or 4th best d-line Ohio State has faced.

We talk about TSUN because Iowa, no matter what the fuck is on the line, is still TSUN. Iowa is irrelevant. Chalk up a win and look towards the game that really matters, no matter the record. The same game that I'm willing to lose the first real job I've had in a year. Fuck TSUN...and yeah, Iowa too.

Rose Bowl? Cool.
5th straight B10 championship? Cool.

Beating the piss out of TSUN? You're god damn right.
