Game Thread Ohio State 56, Miami of Ohio 10 (Sept 01, 2012)

Weak point in the game was obviously the secondary. I thought for sure they would look stronger than they did. If it were going against better receivers, there would had been more points on the board for Miami.

Strong point in the game was the ability to use the entire field. Not being forced to keep plays up the middle and spread the offense really helped the team point points up.

6B row 5 seats today were great.

When was the last time we scored 50 or more (especially in 3 quarters)? I can't remember

If we can get the O clicking, and we can get pressure on opposing QB's we have a good chance of winning every game, or at least have a chance to.

It's great to be a Buckeye, and it's great that Buckeye football is back

:oh:

I'll slip the jab and just say the expectations and buildup to this debut likely set expectations that were impossible.

294 rushing and 244 passing is pretty good.

'expectations' is a funny word. did they exceed my expectations? no. meet them? this is Ohio State we're talking about here. unless they win every game 94-0 with the other team gaining zero yards or first downs, then they don't meet expectations. nature of the beast. was it pretty much what i anticipated would happen- a lot of big plays, a butt whoopin' and enough mistakes to give the coaches plenty to talk about this week? yes.

Thought it was the coolest thing that Urban carries a buckeye in his pocket for good luck.

For the last three years I have carried a (real) buckeye in my flight suit pen pocket! Gonna have to email him and let him know he's ripping off my idea. :tongue2:

I enjoyed the stomp down on Eastern Michigan for 50+ at my last game there...

Jeff Svoboda tweeted it, IIRC

Thanks. I saw all the frosh mentioned but the one guy I hadn't heard about before today that made his Buckeye debut is walk-on Craig Cataline. I don't see a thread on him but sounds like a great story as he walked on after serving in the Navy. Cool.
