Game Thread Ohio State at Penn State, 10/22/16, 8:00pm ET ABC/WatchESPN

Do you think a grind it out RB fits into this offense? This team is built to be aggressive. If RB doesn't have the big play ability, you would hope he would have the power to get good amount of yards after contact. The team feeds off of plays with big yards and first downs.

Carlos Hyde worked out pretty good for us. Of course that was a different OC but we've seen those type of RB's work well.

(Also, Ed no longer coaches the Line. He's the TE coach. We pay Greg Studrawa to coach the line now.)

This. ^^^

Lots of posters on tigerdroppings said Stud was anything but a stud when it came to O-line coaching. Maybe they were right.

And I'm not a huge believer in Beck but there were an awful lot of people that said the exact same thing about Herman during the '12 and '13 seasons. And honestly Herman didn't look like such a guru until the championship run of TSUN, Wisky, Alabama, and Oregon.

I really liked Hyde in this offense and if we had a big RB like him right now, that would be an amazing one/two punch with Samuel. I just don't see Weber close to the same power and size Hyde had. Hyde consistently got that extra couple yards after contact to simply move the chains. Hyde has 20+ pound on Weber. Right now I don't see Weber to be at the level that they give him 20+ carries a game. He should be at most evenly splitting carries with Samuel.

The blocked FG is entirely on the coaches. You can't rush the FG unit out with 10 seconds left on the play clock and be surprised when it doesn't work. Use the TO to make sure you put up points.

These X 1,000.

Season long attempt on the road late in the 4th Q and you have not one but two timeouts.

C'MON MAN!!?!?!!?!!?!

Add this too the identity of this offense, that it's a given to go for 4th and short in that area of the field. The special teams were not in a mind set for that field goal. They were all surprised that Urban didn't want the offense to go for it.

I know this was brought up last night by @billmac91 about the schedule but Bama who is our benchmark has done this and they face it more than anyone

We supposedly have one of the best staffs in the country maybe we need 30 analyst getting 20k a year to help out like Bama.

I think Weber has been pretty good. Last night was his only real rough game and we know how badly the offensive line got abused. He is a great pass blocker so maybe we could have used more of that and ran with Samuel though.
I think when they go uptempo with both Samuel and Weber in the backfield is when they have a truly dynamic backfield. The Oline seems to get a better push when they go quicker as well, with less time for the defense to get set.

I'm more privy to our backs being a tad taller too. I think Mike will one day be a good back for us but he's not Zeke and he's not Hyde.
