Ohio State Men's Lacrosse (2013 ECAC Champions)

In any sport it's easier to defend a stationary object. Bucks reminding me of a basketball team where there's too much dribbling going on, rather than guys moving and passing the ball.

Terps push the lead to 5-2...bad second quarter, again?

Feel almost fortunate to only be down 5-2 at halftime after not scoring in the 2nd quarter - not sure we even got a shot on goal.

1st half thoughts...

- Offense is a dumpster fire again. No off-ball movement. Hero-ball. No picks or two-man game. Forcing passes into the crease.

- Carey is playing just fine. Nothing to be worried about.

- Withers at the dot is fine at the moment. A bit better play from the wings.

- Defense is OK... I guess. The zone seems effective, but chaotic as hell. In man there seems to be such a lack of communication in Man. Randall is going WAY early on that 5th goal. Some miscommunication on switches as well.

What's good about this all? Totally fixable.

Uggg. Just got home. Was at a house warming party for a friend. Good thing that it's a lacrosse house. Me and two other coaches with all of our lacrosse kids huddled around the TV.

@rampageripster pretty well captured it... emotionally, the really disappointing thing to me, at least the part that I'm thinking about now, is early in the game we had two feeds to the crease on stick for what would have likely been goals. They went the other way as TOs. Would have been a very different game.

Difference in my mind was our short stick defense. Too many times we just got blown past on dodges for scores. Not going to single out any players, it's a team game... but I think that Nick wanted to see if we could match up with our D ahorties and intentionally didn't bring help early. In a nutshell, that was the ballgame from what I saw.

Hats off to these kids. One hell of a season. Sad that, just like all the other sports, we get to cheer for them for such a short time.

6 All Americans
Was it 6 MLL drafted? A bunch anyhow...
A crap ton of wins.
Beating the three other teams who made it to the final four in the regular season.
Great memories for these kids.

And a new bar for the program.

Tell me all that would happen this season back in February? Yeah, I'll take it. Note I didn't even include making it to Memorial Day. Yup, hell of a year.

Go Bucks! Get back after it next fall!

Disappointing outcome for the game but what an excellent season. Turned it over way too much it seemed but showed a lot of heart rallying to comeback like they did. Great season and as everyone said, should help a lot for recruiting and future teams. Great season Buckeye LAX!

Could the Big Ten add Utah in lacrosse?

One report stays the two sides are at least talking about

Recently, the University of Utah decided to take the plunge and become the westernmost program to play D1 lacrosse, joining Denver and Air Force as the only programs west of the Mississippi.

That’s cool news for Utah fans and for student-athletes, but it also means Utah is going to need to find a conference home, since the Pac-12 doesn’t sponsor the sport. And according to the Salt Lake Tribune, Utah is in “early talks with the ACC, Big Ten and Big East to join a conference.”

The Big Ten, on the other hand, may be the pound for pound best lacrosse league in the country, at least at the moment. Maryland is the defending national champ. Ohio State was the national runner-up, and looks poised to become a lasting power in the sport. Rutgers has been a Top-15 mainstay recently, Penn State has become excellent, and Hopkins is Hopkins. The only bad program in the conference has been Michigan... a school that isn’t exactly lacking for resources and could turn things around quickly.

Surprise...Surprise...scUM sucks at lacrosse too....
