Game Thread Ohio State @ Nebraska, 10/14/17 @ 7:30 ET (FS1)

Me too, I won me a little money today on a parlay  Bet against the spread in the Indiana/scUM game and Wisconsin/Purdue game, then took the spread on the Buckeyes. Damn good day.

But we looked fantastic tonight. They scored points in garbage time that I am not worried about, but we were just flat out dominant in almost every respect. The only negative that really irked me is wtf we left starters in for so long. I truly hope Holmes and Jamarco Jones are alright because they both got injured at a time neither should have still been playing imo (particularly Jamarco). Then you have Campbell. We truly took care of business, but I really hope those 3 are healthy after a bye week because we are going to need them.

But no more negative Nancy from me, damn impressive game overall and I will give more input after watching the replay. But our defense was overwhelming and JT played a HELL of a game...really excited to see him firing on all cylinders, love to see him have this success.
I really think leaving starters in was in response to them playing their starters against our back ups. That's happened a few times this year and IMO they got what they deserved

OHIO STATE CARRIES MOMENTUM INTO BYE WEEK, PENN STATE PREP AFTER FIFTH STRAIGHT BLOWOUT WIN AT NEBRASKA

86604_h.jpg

Ohio State did what it was supposed to do in its last five games, but the fashion in which the Buckeyes did that was impressive.

Even after the Buckeyes’ 31-16 home loss to Oklahoma on Sept. 9, Ohio State was still fully expected to win its next five games against Army, UNLV, Rutgers, Maryland and Nebraska.

At that time, however, the Buckeyes probably weren't expected to win all of those games by at least 31 points.

The Buckeyes have been nothing short of dominant on both sides of the ball in their last five games, including Saturday night’s game at Nebraska, which the Buckeyes won 56-14.

That has Ohio State, which is now 6-1 on the season and 4-0 in Big Ten play, feeling quite good about itself going into its bye week.

"You can definitely feel that mojo, you can feel that momentum and that confidence," said Ohio State center Billy Price. "It’s pretty magical what’s going on right now."

Ohio State also knows, though, that a tougher test – an Oct. 28 game against Penn State that could very well decide the Big Ten East – lies directly ahead.

"We know what’s coming next," said Ohio State coach Urban Meyer. "We’re going to enjoy the win, then get a day off tomorrow and then we come back to work on Monday and get ready for the big one."

THREE KEY STATS: OHIO STATE EXCELS ON CRUCIAL DOWNS, SHUTS DOWN NEBRASKA'S RUNNING GAME AND SETS MEMORIAL STADIUM RECORD

86607_h.jpg

Ohio State has had a lot of pretty box scores lately.

That was certainly the case for the Buckeyes o

n Saturday night, when they dominated Nebraska to earn a 56-14 win at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, giving the Buckeyes momentum entering their bye week with their fifth straight blowout victory.

Ohio State’s final score was record-breaking in itself, and we’ll get to that before the end of this piece, but there’s also plenty of statistics that help show why the Buckeyes ended up winning by such a big margin.

EMERGING NEBRASKA PLAYMAKER JD SPIELMAN HAS OHIO STATE TIES

86442_h.jpg

JD Spielman nearly became a member of the Ohio State lacrosse team.

Instead, he’s preparing to play against the Ohio State football team this Saturday.

A nephew of legendary Ohio State linebacker Chris Spielman, JD Spielman had plans to become a student-athlete at the same school where his uncle once starred when he committed to play lacrosse for Ohio State in 2013. JD’s older brother Ronnie had already committed to play for the Ohio State lacrosse team, and JD had visions of playing alongside his brother while continuing his family’s Buckeye legacy.

JD Spielman’s ultimate dream, however, was to play Division I college football. So when he began receiving offers from major college football programs, he decided to decommit from Ohio State’s lacrosse team and follow his football dream at Nebraska, where the Buckeyes play the Cornhuskers on Saturday night.

"When I finally got the chance and I finally got my first offer and the other offers came in, I just had a switch of heart," Spielman told Eleven Warriors on Tuesday. "I mean, it wasn’t really a switch of heart because I always wanted to play football, but when I got the opportunity, I knew I wanted to take it."

Just sayin':

11 receptions
200 yards
1 TD
4 kick returns for 60 yards

The kid had a pretty productive night.

Yea JT and the O was just awesome... Great pass protection, receivers running wide open and JT putting every pass on the mark.
But it's just another pretty meaningless game, hell the Red Wolves (Ark. State) had over 400 yards passing against Corn.

Maybe things have changed, but we won't know for another 2 weeks...
Clemson, Washington, and Washington State played some meaningless games, too.
