You know he's actively searching for this "mandate" online right now.

No, I'm actually looking for when we "just happened" to start playing Ohio teams every year. So far, I've found that we didn't play a single Ohio team during any season from 1970 (from where I started the search) through 1991 (we played Bowling Green in 1992)...

EDIT: It appears we started playing Ohio teams every year in 1997 (the 1992 Bowling Green game was the only game against an Ohio team from 1970 through 1996):

1997: Bowling Green
1998: Toledo
1999: Ohio, Cincinnati
2000: Miami (Oh)
2001: Akron
2002: Kent State, Cincinnati
2003: Bowling Green
2004: Cincinnati
2005: Miami (Oh)
2006: Cincinnati, Bowling Green
2007: Youngstown State, Akron, Kent State

Well, since it was "mandated" as you say, you'd think that all of our future schedules that are made out would include Ohio teams, but guess what.... tell me if you see any Ohio teams on this schedule? :roll1:

so you're telling us that there isn't a Saturday in September that falls between the 11th and the 25th?

There is, but who says it won't be a bye week?

If there was a "mandate, there would be an Ohio school on the schedule before New Mexico freaking St.

Found this. It's a pretty good read. Should supply a chuckle or two.

You have to remember, Ohio St. plays by certain rules.

1) When discussing Ohio St., you are free to bring up the MAC and I-AA teams they play, when discussing other teams, such as the SEC, you cannot mention the Sun Belt and I-AA teams they play, nor the fact that they never travel outside their region.

2) When discussing other teams vis a vis Ohio St., wins and losses don't matter. That Ohio St. rarely (if ever) loses to teams they shouldn't lose to while other teams do is irrelevant. Oklahoma is better than OSU, notwithstanding they lost to Colorado. Why? Because that loss doesn't exist since Oklahoma is better than Colorado and just had a down week, which is to be expected since they are too good to have to show up every week. Only OSU is expected to beat teams lesser than them, for other contenders the fact that they are better than the other team is good enough. Likewise, LSU never lost to Kentucky. They are a better team and deserve the benefit of the doubt. However, every OSU loss is an example of all of their weaknesses and is to be remembered as follows: every OSU loss should be remembered for 10 years, whereas every loss by an SEC team should be remembered for two games, then its back to BCS competition baby.

3) The maxim "defense wins championships" is irrelevant. Contenders must score 35+ points a game, it doesn't matter how much they give up. A 55-35 win is better than a 20-0 win, even if in the latter the game was never in question and the opposing team never came close to scoring. Defense is irrelevant.

4) If teams from other BCS conference lose in-conference, its because that conference is so great that you expect to lose games (note, this is the Florida rule, also known as the wifebeater and jorts rule), if OSU loses a game to a non-conference opponent, its because OSU (and by rule the Big 10) is terrible.

5) Ignore NFL success and draft picks. Tennessee, Florida and USC can boast their draft picks and lucrative NFL contracts. NFL teams only draft OSU players because they feel sorry for them.

These are the rules, they may as well be respected.

I would still say the Washington win was a good one...despite their record...their schedule has been brutal.. the teams they've played have a combined record of 40-11 with more than half those loses coming from Syracuse. Take out Syracuse and their opponents combined record goes to 38-5!!! Difficult for anyteam to do extremely well with that. The rest of the scheduled teams have a record of 23-20 so they should start getting some more wins, but still have Cal and Hawaii to deal with. Certainly they aren't elite, but they arent as bad as their record would indicate.

Exactly. Everyone had the Buckeyes on upset alert when they played Washington and everyone was claiming that Washington was going to upset the Bucks. Well as soon as the Buckeyes came away with a win, everyone claimed that Washington was terrible and the Bucks play no one. Give me a break.
