Game Thread Ohio State vs Oklahoma, 09/09/17 @ 7:30 ET (ABC)

You all kind of lucked out in that game though with the phantom pass interference call and Willis McGahee being out with a knee injury.

2014 Buckeyes > 2002 Buckeyes

I'm sure you all would agree Tressel overstayed his welcome because of that win over Miami.

Lucked out? Go watch the replay of the PI call. The only thing "phantom" about that call was the flag the ref seemingly couldn't find in his pocket. Truth be told, that may be one of the best college football teams in history, and yet the only way they could slow Jenkins and Gamble down was to hold the living shit out of them on every single play in hopes the refs would continue to "let them play".

And Tressel overstaying his welcome? The guy would still be getting 10-11 win seasons consistently if he were still the HC of the Buckeyes.

Really digging deep to stir shit up, aren't we?

So you're just doubling down on the trolling then?

McGahee was getting outrushed by Krenzel because of what great DLs do to great OLs. (same thing was happening to Clarett). Then Will Allen obliterated him.

As for the flag, it was laughably (and questionably) late. It was hardly a phantom call, despite Fouts' rage muddying the waters.

For the postseason version that played a monstrous 3 games? Possibly. For the other games? The 2002 team would would take their lunch money, as would 2014 Alabama.

wow, man. just wow. No, you'll find practically no one who would say that. At most, you'll find criticisms about the offensive playcalling being bolstered by that win (not unlike what hamstrung OSU-Meyer the last two years, and I'd point directly to his win over your boys for that).

All of this because you misunderstand the definition of buckeyeplanet and can't take a stupid joke about your QB outrunning the cops during a bad off-field moment?

The best part of this is that you're trying to argue that something that happened 7 months ago will not impact this game (as though that needed hashed out), yet your troll tactics are digging up OSU incidents from 11-14 years ago.

miami lucked out that the game even went into overtime. had the game been called correctly like miami (and apparently some sooner) fans cry about all the time, then osu would have won in regulation.

and Willis McGahee being out with a knee injury.
you do know mcgahee played a little over 3 quarters, don't you? and that he averaged a whopping 3.4 yards over 20 carries, right? and that when he left the game, his team was still trailing?

what the fuck does that mean?

Two separate egregious holds on the play (automatic first down, game over)
Caught the ball (first down, game over)
Punted to Miami, with AJ Hawk waiting for the returner, only to be blatantly clipped, springing him for a huge return (and starting the drive near FG range for an O that struggled all day)

All of those were called incorrectly and they helped Miami tie the game and send it to overtime. Those pesky little facts never make it into the troll narratives.

Wow! 14 years later and you're still in denial that Miami should have won that game.

I guess the truth hurts some people, doesn't it? #Luckeyes

Game should have never seen OT if the officials were worth a shart.

This. This. this.

I hate myself that I am still hypersensitive about the PI call. I've watched it 100 times, and, honestly, I don't see PI. Maybe holding. Maybe even a facemask. However, I did see the hold on Gamble AND his catch that was called incomplete that would have given Ohio State a first down and an opportunity to salt the game away there. I also saw the clip on AJ on the punt. If anyone wants to talk about officiating, then fine. Bottom line is Miami had a chance to win the game in the 2nd OT. An unbeatable team should have been able to punch it in from the 25. Cie Grant blitzes, gets a hold of Dorsey, throws him to the ground, the ball is thrown harmlessly into the ground near the goal line, and my joy commenced. No one is taking that away from me with some officiating BS. Thank you.
